Thanks for all the comments guys, it's made me feel so much better and knowing I'm not alone really helps. I think it just hit me that night and it was really overwhelming, I know that everything you guys are saying is right. I'm just going to continue to be positive and make sure I keep in contact with everyone regularly. I know most Americans are super friendly so hopefully I won't have much trouble making friends

Is would look at it as an amazing opportunity. Children are supposed to grow up, move on and have their own families. It's what they do. With technology you can keep in touch daily. It's not like the old days when all, u could do was write letters and MAYBE place an international call once in a while. You will make your own friends....just like when u started kindergarten! You are going to have a wonderful life with someone who loves you. Look forward to it with anticipation, not dread. That will start you out on the wrong foot for sure!

I love him. Forever. And every day after that.

Same situation here girl. I know A LOT of couples can relate to this post, because it has to cross their minds at some point when they will close the distance.
As for me, I wonder about that constantly, and I have a gut feeling that I will have to leave the US and go to Italy with him. And the reason I think that is because of his job, or when he gets a job. He's going to be finishing up his masters this year, and I', am worried he won't be able to get a job all the way over here starting off. It is highly unlikely it would happen.
ANd that's when I think about leaving my family. I have a WAY bigger family than he does, and I am constantly seeing most of them at least once a week. And that's just the extended family.
I remember my father and I had a talk about it. He told me that him and I have to start talking about the future, we are both getting to that age where we can't just sit around and wait. My dad also told me that he understands if I have to follow him over there. You do what you have to do to make things work.

I would miss my family greatly, it would be a huge change from seeing them every day. Leaving the friends would hurt too.
And i totally get how you feel about not having friends in the other country and the different language.
        It will be so different.

I say take in the experience and embrace it. It's going to be scary. Just know I will be scared too, but I will make the best of the situation.
        Good luck to you =)
