    Prices of flights??

Hello again I know I have been gone awhile off the forum (about 2 years XD ) but life has been busy~ Me and my SO are still going strong <3

On that topic is anyone else scandalized by flight prices recently? Its a good 200 more than last year! Or am I just looking at the wrong place?
that's expensive stuff, they might as well make the tickets gold

Yes, the airline mergers are killing us. I use Kayak and being flexible can help. I always hit the "nearby airports" for both and "plus minus 3 days" before and after so I can find the best possible price. Unless you use miles, then that is another story. British Air is the only that makes my miles worth it anymore but their "fees" are ridiculous anymore. I also have a Bill Me Later account, a part of Paypal, because several Airlines except them and they give out credit more easily than many other Banks.

The prices I've been looking up for NY-Lima seem to be about on par with what they were two years ago so far, but I am aware that prices continue to increase on the majority of airlines.

Flight prices are more expensive than they use to be due to all the tax and regulatory fees added

Well I suppose I will have to fly to a different airport than Hartford.. AUA offer cheap flights to the north east like Boston, or maybe I could fly to chicago.. *sigh*

Yea I have tried kayak and expedia plus direct sites and tried the three major international airports i know of in Texas But its still ranging me around 920.. Just last year is was about 750 :/ It might be due to all the cancelled flights and profit losses over our weird U.S. winter thing that happened. Who knows :c I wish all of you cheap flights and safe travels

When are you trying to book your flight for? I guess it has to do with the season as well, my SO just flew into Newark in February for less than 600, and my flight over there I'm taking next week cost me around 700. But in looking for the summer, I'm seeing prices like you are saying (and I'm looking to fly to Dublin as well). So I'm hoping that if I wait a bit more the price will drop!

I use Kayak + rewards points off my credit card. Also are you a student? You can travel on a student visa and get tons of benefits. I stayed over seas for super cheap.

Yes I am a student but you don't need a visa for Ireland and for student ones you have to be studying there :/

You'll be lucky to get cheap flights over that timeframe, as that's right in the European summer period. It's just a case of you travelling at a more popular time of year than anything else.

Make sure you sign up for airfare alerts from the different airlines. Though I stay pretty loyal to one airline, because of the different ways I earn miles with them, I just took advantage of an airfare sale through a different airline, so I'll be able to see him 3 times this year instead of two.

Everything costs more now. Groceries, gas, going out to eat, watching movies, even my damn trash pick up. My electric bill is probably about 3 times as much as it was 5 years ago. Airlines are no different. And when you look at percentages it adds up. You can aim to save a few bucks, but unless you travel off season and off times, you are not going to find some miracle discounts. There are all sorts of rumors about try this day versus that or try this trick versus that but the fact is every damn flight is full because they don't have as many as they used too. If you are not trying to book a flight the airline thinks it will have open holes in, you won't find a break. To get the best prices be as flexible as you can. Sometimes it is even cheaper to take more stops further out of way to get to your destination. We are at their mercy and so we all have to jump through whatever hoops they give us to pay the smallest pound of flesh possible.

I'd say just keep checking places like kayak and clearing your cookies before checking each time. Other then that it's usually just the time you fly depends on the cost of the ticket.

Treasuretrooper <-- how I helped pay for some of my LDR expenses when I was in one.

Several airlines including United, American, US Airways, and JetBlue have launched fare sales this morning
