Do you guys have any idea how many chemicals are in those things? LOL.

My SO would not touch them with a ten foot pole. I used to make them for my family as a teen growing up to impress my parents until one day I learned to make the real ones from scratch and never did a tube hit the table again.

I miss the bike rides on the NL countryside.
    The Bazaar in Rotterdam...nuff said.
Our kitties that are there with his parents.
the train station across the road that would take us anywhere.
    His parents and our friends.
Really da@# good cheese and chocolate whenever you want.
Free sample of meat and cheese at the counters without long lines and annoying salespeople.

It's a half and half mix of apple juice and sparkling water. Apple juice is not as common in Colombia as it is in Germany or the US. :-)

Kinderschokolade is a popular brand of chocolate in Germany. It's milk chocolate and has a creamy, white filling in the middle. Soooo good! I am a chocolate addict, tbh ^^
Kaufland is a huge grocery store chain in Germany. It's nothing really different from US grocery stores, but I have a lot of good memories there with my SO
And like Schlafmutze said of Apfelschorle, think of it like Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider in the US. It's really good!
            Oktoberfest is awesome, btw!

Oh that sounds so refreshing, especially during a hot summer! That is awful that you do not have apple juice over there, but you do have wonderful coffee!

I wish I had the patience to make them from scratch, but usually only have them when I'm craving them so the tube serves it's purpose for quick satisfaction for my bullying cravings haha. I'm with you 80anthea. I'm usually a food snob too, but somethings are just better when they're overly processed.

Ah ok, so Kaufland is pretty similar to Aldi and such? Oh I know exactly what you mean. That's one of the perks of LDRs for sure. Doing things that would seem mundane for other couples are amazingly special to LDRers.

Oh sparkling apple cider! I remember having that for holidays as a kid, thinking I was so fancy and adult when I sipped it from my cup haha. That stuff is really good!

Omg you been been to an Oktoberfest in Germany?! I'm totes jelly over here!

Omggg where do I beginnn? This was probably a bad idea. Buuuuttt...

The snow (of course). And by extension, the winter. Not because of the cold (because let's face it, I've been complaining about 15 degree nights over here, and over there it could be -12). But at least they had fun cold (at least when it snowed) and indoor heating, so majority of the time it wasn't all that cold at all when you were indoors. And lots of beautiful late morning sunrises and early afternoon sunsets to watch

As others have said, the beautiful old buildings, castles and history, things that were built before Australia was even discovered. xD

The quiet, peaceful streets. And the cleanliness. Not that it's really dirty where I live, but there'll always be drains clogged with rubbish and the odd papers and food wrappers lying around. It was tough to find even a cigarette butt over there!

By extension of cleanliness, their public transport. Rubbish bags on the trains, why don't we have that?! No wonder there's always empty coke bottles and things lying around in each carriage. And just their public transport system in general, because Brisbane is supposed to be something like the 3rd most expensive city in the world for public transport, it's disgusting. Over there you pay a certain amount for unlimited travel within a certain period (and area e.g. city or outer city), which I think is a great idea.

And the subway tunnel art in Stockholm!!! Just makes the stations really pleasant and virtually graffiti less.

The short walks to go anywhere. From his Dad's, it was a 10 min walk to the town square and little shops, 20 min walk to the train station. From his Mum's in the city, it was a 5 minute walk to train station to get you anywhere within city with trains every 10 mins. Over here, it's trains every 30 mins. And it's a 40 min walk to the shops. And a 50 min bus ride to the train station (or 15 min car ride).

Cute little bird houses everywhere for people to feed the birds in winter.

The Swedish HP Fandom. Because they're so awesome. And the fans are hard to find and much widespread in Australia. And no one here is interested in conventions or wizard rock. They seem to have conventions like 3-4 times a year!

Just the attitude of people. They're so nice and relaxed and I don't know. I don't think in the whole time I was there I really saw anyone raise their voice (and not just at home with the families, out in public too). They're just really soft-spoken people and so accepting of people's differences, etc.

The cheese slicer that's equipped with every home. After much getting used to, it was so easy to slice cheese! Even though they buy it in the round blocks and we buy it in the rectangular blocks, could totally see it being handy. I hate thick cheese, which is always a good possibility when slicing with a knife

And of course, that doesn't even cover the food...

                  Great tasting cereal.

Knäckbröd. Like crispbread/crackers, and yet so much more tastier and filling.

Round bread. It's just bread. And yet it's not. It's like... I don't know... fluffier or something xD and puffy. And round. And tastes delicious.

                  Kebab sauce.

Meatballs (of course, their famous for it). The lingonberry jam not so much, but it's growing on me.

As is the Julmust. I didn't really like it at first, but the more I had, the better I enjoyed it, and am craving it now that I'm home. It's like coke, but totally not, completely different flavour you can't really describe, and it's only this one company that makes it, no one else knows the recipe...

Cinnamon buns. And generally, all their pastry-goodness.

Princesstårta. Nuff said. Creamy sponge cake with green marzipan.

I could go on, but this post is getting way long I told you it was a bad idea!

                      Completely random stuff:

                      - Pumpernickel bread from the Outback Steakhouse, as well as their "Wallaby Darned" drink
                      - Amazingly cheap movie tickets
                      - Woodpeckers and other cool birds (I'm a birder)
                      - Hearing the coyotes at night
                      - Jimmy Johns (sandwich place, so good!)
                      - Disneyworld
                      - Snow (not that there's much of that to be had in Florida, but we've been up North).
                      - Cheap, nice hotels.
                      - Philly Cheesesteak, the way his dad makes them
                      - Biscuits (as they're called there), the puffy pastry kind, we don't have anything like that here that I'm aware of.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of it.
                      Together since: Feb 23rd 2005.

Hmmmm, things I miss about (Lima) Peru... I don't miss that much, but:

                          - Being able to walk or take a bus or taxi everywhere
                          - Intense cultural history, sometimes literally "in your backyard"-- there are temples in the local zoo (which we walked to)!
                          - Potatoes with practically every dish
                          - Alfajores *0*
                          - Being on the coast
                          Canadian permanent residence APPROVED!
                          Closed the Distance: 09/26/2019
                          Engaged: 09/26/2020

                            Woohoo, chocoholics unite!
Is Aldi a major grocery chain store in Scotland?
I did the same thing with my apple cider as a kid! I always thought I was so fancy drinking it out of a wine cup
Sadly, I've never been to Oktoberfest in Germany
But, growing up in Orange County, there was a town right next to where I lived named Anaheim. Most people know it as the town that Disneyland is in, but it also used to have a huge German population back in the day. They have a huge Oktoberfest there every Fall, and it's awesome! Although not as big as the one in your city, I'm sure!

I miss just about everything in my SO's country
-How easy public transport is in London
                              -The restaurants around his area
-The sweets that he can get in his country
-The alcohol that he can get (no luck in finding alcoholic Ginger Beer yet)
-The History that comes with his country
                              -The countryside of England
                              -Brighton Pier

The list can go on and on lol.

Some things I miss about the UK:

                                -stone cottages
                                -sheep!!
-UK supermarkets!!! (yay Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsburys, and all the other ones)
-Alpro soya milk and soya products
-Yummy vegan chocolate that I can't get in Canada (probably a good thing otherwise I'd buy too much lol) - kinnertons, moo free, plamil...
-Vegonia Wholefoods, in North Wales - my vegan dream store in the UK.. :P
                                -marrowfat peas widely available
-lots of potato varieties - different from most that I see around here :P

                                And probably more things haha
