Best way to transfer money? Uk/USA

Does anyone know the best option to share money without opening a joint international account?

I'm in the Uk and my partner is in the USA, we don't want to share wages etc would just be nice to say hey you need this and I have it available when the other needs?

    Does anyone else do this?

I'd be interested in this too, planning to do something like this to help share the cost of plane fares....

My SO and I transfer money via PayPal. There's a little fee but it's not bad. Haven't had any problems with it yet and I've transfered large amounts too.

My family and I do it through Western Union. There is fees though, so for $500 you pay $29,9, but I can pick it up the same day :P

transferwise is by far the best and cheapest option I have found.

for speed however I advise getting the recipients bank details rather than using the email option. takes three working days if you get it in in the morning and use bank transfer, a little longer if you dont do it until the afternoon, or use the card payment options.

If you use a credit card you will be charged a cash usage fee as well btw.

We have used Paypal for years too. Not just USA/UK either, I can think of 5 different countries we used with no problem.

We use Paypal all the time between the US and Finland. Very easy and very cheap, though it does take a few days to transfer from your Paypal account to your bank account. You can send the money in your choice of currencies as well.

I would say to all you who use pay pall look up transferwise it is a LOT cheaper with the conversion rate the fees charged.

the company is actually an avid campaigner to get all hidden bank charges removed.... if i had used my bank for the amount of currency I have switched over, I would have been nearly £200 worse off....

I have a paypal credit card and they don't charge me a base transfer fee when I pull money from it and send to his bank account. I used to use Xoom but they became more unreliable. It also took forever to get everyone I need on one system so for me I am staying put. I can look into it as a back up idea since I don't believe in putting all your chickens in one basket.

me and my SO use paypal also. It's a bit annoying that paypal holds it for a few days before it's available but oh well. It gets the job done.

I'd rather use PayPal because to me, they're more secure options and I have an account with them, used them for years for various other things, and I've never heard of the others. At least I know it's reliable.

When my SO and I were planning my visit to him, he bought my plane ticket for me because it was way cheaper for some reason doing it over there lol. I used Paypal to pay him back, and that worked for us.
