Gang / police war on the Philippines

    Hello everybody,

My lady told me some disturbing news about the situation in Bohol, Cental Visaya, Philippines. There seems to be a war between the gang Abu Sayyaf and the police / army. Yesterday several members on both sides, as well as civilians, were shot and it seems that some of the Aby Sayyaf have fled to Cebu Island, to Dalaguete, to be more precise. I don't know how many here are from the Philippines, of have their love there, but I think it would be nice to keep each other updated on the situation there. Looks like the southern half of the Philippines is not safe to visit at the moment, especially for foreingers.

I'm worries about the safety of my ladies (my love and our daughter) and hope to learn about the situation here. Let's help each other out here, if possible.

    Greets,
    erwin

Thank you. They're scared, of course, and I can do nothing from over 11,000 kms distance. I hope the situation gets solved quickly. My lady lives on Cebu island, about 15kms from Dalaguete. So yes, we're worried

Hope for some good news soon.

Wow, Seems like the only place to hear about it is on LFAD!!! I can't find any mention of it on CNN's Asia section of their website.

Abu Sayyaf is part of Al Qaeda, the situation is serious!!!

OP, I hope your SO stays safe.

Thanks Chris. I hope everyone stays safe...
CNN is not reporting this, I have an idea why but I don't want to turn political. And yes, my lady told me that Abu Sayyaf is part of Al Qaeda, that's why I am so worried. :P
                This website has some info.

Thank you. Yes, about the news I agree. MSM = big lies
                Oops, still turning political.

I know your feeling, erwin. My SO lives in Seoul, S.Korea, and even though there is no terrorism, the risk of a new Korean War is getting bigger and bigger. (also, with Trump threatening N.Korea to hit them if they do another nuclear shot.. I don't have a good feeling about that, but let's not talk about politics here)

N.Korea threatens to hit American bases in S.Korea (like in the DMZ and probably other places I don't know about), and places in Seoul like the Blue House (presidential palace), and probably other parts of the city. Seoul is around 50 km away from the border with N.Korea. I'm very worried for my SO, who even told me that people get ready in case the war would happen (buying more food and stuff, in case there's some penury).

About Abu Sayyaf (let's get back to the main topic), I heard about them in the past. I was surprised they'd were in the Philippines, since this is a very catholic country. I hope your lady and daughter will get safe, probably in another area if that's needed. I was thinking that Isis was more dangerous than Al Qaeda, but when I see your posts about Abu Sayyaf, I could think that both terrorist organisations show the same level of cruelty.

I'm also worried for Europe, since it has been hit by terrorism very recently (St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Dortmund - I consider the bus attack in Dortmund as a terrorist attack, due to the news I've read about it). Our world isn't safe anymore, sadly.

Yeah, it's not quite safe in South Korea either... It looks like the whole world is getting itself in a big struggle. Not nice at all.

Correct, lots and lots of people on the Phillipines are Catholic, not many muslims there... It might be that these people are runaways from the Indonesian islands, but that is just a thought, I have no prove whatsoever. After all the Philippines and Indonesia are - for our terms - pretty close to each other. And the most southern islands on the Phillipines have always been more lawless then the rest.

I hoped, by living in the central part, she would be safe. So far so good, talked to her last night (my last night) and all is still okay.

Wondering how the others here are doing, with loves or family there...

Just heard that the war in Bohol and in Mindanao is still going on. The Abu Sayyaf are now also in Cebu, Danao, and it looks like it's going to be a hard time there... Not safe for me to go there at the moment.

At this moment, yes. I just stopped chatting with Eve because she wanted to go dleep. Eshe was sleeping already. It's tricky, the Abu Sayyaf are not more then 15 kms away... But for now they seem to look east and my ladies live west of Dalaguete. We keep praying, that's all we can do. And they have to be very careful.
