My girlfriend Vanessa is coming to visit me in Michigan for a week in June. She is very excited to meet my friends and family and I know they will all accept and love her as part of the family because thats just how they are. But my family is not what I am worried about. What she doesn't know is that I am flying out to visit her in October for her birthday. I have already met her brother and a few of her close friends (who are all really kind and cool people who seem to be very accepting of me) but I am VERY nervous and anxious to be introduced to the rest of her family because Im not sure of how they will take me being transgender and apparently she has A LOT of people in her family. She said that she has told them about me and that they are supportive but I have pretty bad anxiety about it. Any advice or tips?

Definitely be yourself.
The most important people already like you, you don't have anything to prove to the other people.

I'm trans myself, so I can sympathize XP. No matter what people tell you, I know it can be damn near impossible to stop it from being awkward. My boyfriend's brothers have recently found out that I'm trans, and they've been cool about it. They treat me like any other guy, but I'm still really uncomfortable with them knowing that xD. I can't pass to save my life though, so it's not like I have a choice :P. If I could pass (and they didn't know me from my past life), they'd never know that dark little secret @_@.
My advice it probably bad advice, but it's what I would do and am actually doing. Just don't talk about it. If someone brings it up or slips up, obviously you have to say something. If everyone else remains quiet and keep getting the pronouns right, just leave it unspoken. Just like grandma's former career in porn and the identity of cousin Jeremy's real father, let it be one of those things everyone knows about but nobody talks about because it would be rude to bring up.

BEST advice given!
you are you and you don't have to defend yourself to anyone about your gender! The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
