Me and my beau have known each other for 15 years. We met in elementary school and all the way through high school we lived down the street from each other. We didn't have the best relationship at first, because he used to actually pick on me... But I'm definitely over that, and in high school we simultaneously had crushes on each other. Each of us completely oblivious to the feelings of the other. Since high school we would keep in contact, not a lot, but sporadically. And recently we started really getting to know one another. He is currently deployed in Afghanistan, and as far as we know he will be there until October 2014!
I have no doubt that I would be able to sustain a long distance relationship. It wouldn't be my first one. And I think I'll be busy enough with, work, school and the kids to stay focused on he and I. Aside from that, we talk everyday, as soon as we are able.
My question is that we are fairly new, and with Valentine's day coming up, what would be an appropriate package to send to him? Below are some ideas I have so far...
So far, I like the jar filled with notes of "why I like you," or little positive affirmations.
Of course, I am going to send a handwritten letter, and this is the only thing that he really said he wanted...so pretty much anything else I do is going above and beyond...
I've also thought about getting him a bucket list journal, since he is shy, and he voiced to me that he would like to break that. So in the journal i'm going to write a note that he should list the things he wants to do, but have reservations doing because of his coyness, and then make an effort to accomplish these tasks. Of course I'm going to put "Go see Jasmine in person" as his first task, since he says he hopes that he really gets to see me.
Another thing, I wanted to craft a Valentine's day card with a guitar on the front saying "You Rock" ( I don't it to be too sappy since we are new) and on the inside, I'm going to write, "...well actually you don't because you suck at the guitar. lol. But we can suck together..." Or something along those lines... (Back story on this, we both suck at playing guitar and have planned to have a guitar sucking contest via Skype)
