    There's always a way.

    Hi everyone;

    I need some advice. Last year August 2012 I've met a Japanese girl when she attended the kayaking event with the local group, she's a visiting scholar doing research work for one year here in California. And now she's going back to Japan in march 2013. We've done a lot of memorable adventurous things together and we loved each other so much. Now we're both worried about our future and goals. I loved her so I'm planning to move to Japan and lived there but my biggest concern is finding a suitable job and start from scratch. I don't speak or understand Japanese language at all. I wonder how can I find work near Nagoya, Japan. I was told by her that teaching English is the preferred choice at first. I've already established my life here in California, USA. I have a stable job but not enough to support a family. She's a professor in one of the University in Nagoya. She earn good income and she told me that she can support me while looking for work but it's gonna be real tough because almost everything in Japan is expensive. She wants to start our family together because she's in 30's already. I'm a bit pressured and a little confused but as long as there's love, there's hope for both of us.

    Please help. Thank You,
    Leo

    I'm young, unwise, but have my wits about me. I'd say start learning Japanese, have the girl search out some jobs, and raise some cash in 'murrca and then have her raise some cash, so while you are out of work you can do fine. You can wait a year, right?
    Good luck.

      Finding a job in Japan is not that hard provided you're not picky.

      I know everyone who goes over to Japan becomes an English teacher, and honestly the school can pay quite well. You don't even need to be specialised in English teaching, so long as you have a Bachelors Degree it shouldn't be too hard.

      Obviously you would also need to start learning Japanese and its really not that difficult at all.

      I'd recommend getting a working/holiday visa first as it lasts a year and it gives you the chance to see if you've made the right choice. After that if you have a steady job, you may be able to get sponsored.

      I'd look at gaijinpot They have job listings for all over Japan and apartment listings.

      I know this isn't as much information as you were probably hoping for, but I hope it helps all the same
