This idea is based off of several others I heard. It's not exactly a letter, per se, because I used email but I suppose it would work with regular mail.
I really wanted to do something to countdown the days until I see my boyfriend again because I'm literally counting them in my head. I'd heard about people composing a list of songs that they feel describes their relationship, so I decided to take this and spin it.
I made a huge (of course) list of songs, picked my favorite 14 (because that was how many days it started as) and wrote a little blurp about why that song reminded me of us. I've been sending him one song and it's blurp a day with a link in the email to a YouTube video with the given song. He loves the idea and is always very excited to open up his inbox and find a song waiting for him.
If you want to use the good old standard of a paper and pen, I would just include your blurp and the song and let them look it up at their leisure. However, it would take a little more planning because you'd have to account for the postal service's process time, ect.
