    The Dress Questionnaire

So I'm all excited about my dress, even though it's not a huge fancy thing for a huge fancy ceremony. Anyways, I'm also a big fan of Say Yes to the Dress, but found my experience was completely different, I was much more relaxed. Though something relaxing wouldn't make good TV! Anyways, I thought everyone who has purchased a wedding dress could answer some questions I just randomly thought up because I'm bored...

    1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted? Not really. I like looking through dress websites, but I knew I wouldn't end up with any of them. Just fun to look!
    2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online? I only went to one to "seriously" shop. But I did glance for white dresses in every shop I walked by for a few weeks.
    3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask? My sister and her friend came with me.
    4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"? I tried on a total of 4 dresses, #3 was "the one".
    5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different? I got something way different.
    6. Did you cry? No. It never occurred to me to feel emotional, it was just a dress!

Ohh yay!! I'm glad you're back! And can't wait to see what dress you picked out. Okay...on to the questionnaire!

    1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted? I didn't really do any research but I did know what I *didn't* want just based on what I'd seen on TV or at friends' weddings.
    2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online? I went to 2 shops with my mom. The first was a fancy bridal store where they totally did not respect our budget and let me fall-in-lust with a dress that was like double my budget. The second was David's Bridal which turned out to be an awesome experience and it's where we found THE dress.
    3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask? My mom came with me and then we sent my dad a picture for his opinion.
    4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"? I can't remember (it was awhile ago--our wedding has been delayed). I think at the first shop I tried on about 5 dresses and at David's Bridal, maybe 3 dresses.
    5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different? It was kind of what I had imagined. I went with something with sleeves and something that was classic and elegant. One difference was that I thought I would have wanted pure white and I actually loved (and chose) ivory. And I also loved the look of veil...I hadn't expected that!
    6. Did you cry? I didn't cry but I did feel really emotionally when I saw myself in *the one*. Especially when I tried it on with a veil for some reason. I never had thought about a veil but it really completed the dress for me.

      This is a fun idea
      1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted?
I looked around online for a while, Looked into what styles were good and what i didnt like so i had an idea of what i wanted.
      2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online?
I visited 4. One of them didnt have much selection, one of them gave me dirty looks the whole time and were very unhelpful and seemed rather unfriendly. Then the last two were decent, but the last one i checked out had "The Dress" :P
      3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask?
A friend, and asked my mum for an opinion on it too.
      4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"?
Oh god, about 12? 7 or so in one shop and 5 or 6 in the shop where i found my dress
      5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different?
I got one in a similar style to the one i first found online that i liked. So yeah i did end up with one i thought id get
      6. Did you cry?
Nah, didnt seem like a time to cry lol

          1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted? No. I spent way too much time on google images, but that was mostly because I wasn't working much and was bored.
          2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online? I went to a lot of shops. Like, about 10. Most of which had nothing even remotely in my price range. I ended up buying online.
          3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask? My MIL drove me, one of my girlfriends came and so did Ryan and Michelle from here. There was more than one outing, none of which I enjoyed.
          4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"? Too many. One made me look like I was trying to escape from inside a cake. I laughed hysterically until my friends escorted me from the store.
          5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different? I ended up with something way different. A ball gown, of all things. o.O I'd never have thunk it.
          6. Did you cry? No. Though I was very dispirited when I found the dress I wanted, for waaaay out of my budget, the last of a discontinued line and several hundred dollars worth of alterations too big. So I bought a replica from China for $200 (inc shipping!) Go China!

            1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted? Yep, I went in the shop with a sheet, but I was open to any style really, so long as it was lace!

            2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online? I got my dress in the first shop I went into, so that was great!

            3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask? My SO came with me, then we took lots of pictures to show my mum and best friends.

            4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"? I'd say maybe 10? I had a system, I pulled 2 dresses, the adviser pulled 8, then I tried on the first dress, if I didn't like it better than the previous dress, it got put back. Narrowed it down to 2 within half an hour!

            5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different? I actually ended up with the dress I had put on my sheet as an afterthought. I though I'd want a more ballgown style, I ended up with a fitted A-line.

            6. Did you cry? No, but my SO nearly did when I put the veil on lol I'll probably cry at the actual wedding though

              This is great!

              1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted? I did a little bit of research. I looked through a bunch of different websites to see if there was anything that I liked. Most of the research I did was go back through pictures I had drawn to see what I liked then. They all had similar details to them
              2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online? I went to two shops. The first time I went was actually on my birthday. It was fun to get to hang out with friends and try on beautiful dresses.
              3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask? The first time, I took my maid of honor and one of my other friends. The second time, I took my maid of honor again and my mom.
              4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"? I don't even remember how many dresses I tried on at the first store. Maybe 10 there? Then at least another 5 or 6 at David's Bridal. My dress was the last one I tried on there.
              5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different? My dress was everything that I ever wanted and more. Although like mllebamako, my dress is ivory when I thought I would get a white dress.
              6. Did you cry? No. I got butterflies in my tummy and couldn't stop smiling. I also couldn't stop touching all of the beading or the fabric of the dress. I was in love all over again.

Ha! This is a great idea, and even more exciting now that I have bought my dress!

                1. Did you do a lot of research on what type of dress you wanted?
Not really, I looked some online but nothing really stood out to me because I had no idea what would fit my body shape
                2. How many shops did you visit? Or did you buy online?
I went to DB once. I was dreading it because I dislike clothing shopping, especially in front of an audience! But it turned out to be not so bad and I even thought I looked pretty good at some points.
                3. Who did you bring with you? Or whose opinion did you ask?
My future mother and sister in law, because my family and best friend are in Singapore. ): But, we took pictures, whatsapped them and got their opinions too. Unfortunately, my family in Singapore had very different idea of what kind of wedding I wanted.
                4. How many dresses did you try on until you found "the one"?
7-8 dresses at DB I think, and then the one that I ended up buying...
                5. Did you pick something you thought you would get? Or did you end up with something different?
I got something in the same silhouette I had decided on after my DB appointment. What I didn't expect was to get a brand new dress that fit me perfectly off craigslist for cheap.
                6. Did you cry?
No, I knew it was the one, but was more preoccupied in sending pictures to EVERYONE so they could give me their opinions quick!
