I don't care for knotties for the exact reasons you mentioned. I love offbeatbride.com, however, and I became a member because of how incredibly open, chill, and accepting the people on there are. So much more sanity.

ooh do offbeatbride have a forum? I didnt know that, I've just read some of their articles.

I like how different and original peoples wedding ideas are on there. Its how weddings should be - completley unique to the couple.

And lol at the image of being beaten to death with bridal bouquets!
Tea and hugs make the world go round - don't ever discount the little things in life.

Smiling away to oneself brings an obscene amount of joy when only you know the reason why your smiling. Pick something secret to smile about and let it light up your face all day long!

And remember....Love really IS all around.

Most people i know don't recommend posting on theknot just because of how the women on there are, but there are 2 wedding forums/communities i'm a member of

BestDestinationWeddings - it's really good if you are planning on getting married internationally but most people there get married in the Caribbean, mexico or hawaii, but they have places for all weddings, plus general information places

Wedding Plans - Livejournal community, i love the ladies here they are so sweet and when you post what you'd like for your wedding and if they have any suggestions they are amazing at offering suggestions. This is also a good place for inspirations and ideas as mostly everyone there posts their ideas and progress posts of their wedding planning so far, plus they even post pictures after their wedding so you can see how they turned out.

Weddingplans on LJ is good, too! I was a member there before for my first wedding, and I just started lurking there a bit ago (I like watching, what can I say? >_>)

OBB definitely has a forum - and it's REALLY active! https://offbeatbride.ning.com/

Or go to their main page and click tribe - that's what they call themselves, the Tribe.

You can also check out Weddingbee.com. I am a member there and for the most part they are friendly but pretty straight up when giving advice from weddings to relationships. It's a nice site and although I'm not yet engaged (hopefully soon!) I still hang out over there cause the ladies are pretty cool.

I was finally just married to my ldr so and have had a year to prepare. I am older (too close to 40 [smile]) and we have been engaged for over a year now so I looked at all those things; wedding boards, the knot, posts on wedding bee, you name it. Even the show on WE of course. I got burnt out after some months of it and even ended up crying to my poor fiance when my boss came to me and said I needed to invite the head of our company or I would be offensive. Well there was a lot more with too much pressure. We ended up getting married in Gatlinburg, TN at a beautiful chapel that did everything for our wedding. Pics, dvd and everything were done for us plus a wonderful week in a cabin at the smokies with only some choice family and friends. We, and I really stress we on this, couldn't have been happier. Our total package was under $500 for everything and we only had to get the license and show up. I think what I am saying to you is to get some hints and ideas but be unique and what you want. Our 'reception' was a barbecue at the smokies park shelter costing $20 to rent. I stressed so much about ettiquette because of all these boards and wasted a lot of time and energy. Have fun; that is the most important part.
