Picking out a ring-- together or a surprise?

Yes. I know roughly about when. We have a timeframe. But I still want it to be a surprise.

Or pick out the ring together?
No. I want him to do it but he knows to talk to my best friend, who knows exactly what I like.

Yes. He has excellent taste in jewelry. Which is good because my ex had horrible taste and so does my father haha. My mom used to buy jewelry for herself and say he bought it for her :P

do you own a ring? if you do and it fits he could bring it to the jeweler if he goes to pick out a ring fore you. you could also buy a ring sizer online.

When my SO and I got engaged, it was a surprise... kinda. He had asked me about rings, but I was kinda thinking the engagement would happen in January, when he comes here for my birthday. I didn't "pick out" the ring, but he knew I don't wear yellow gold, and I'm a sucker for traditional diamonds, etc...

Wel, it depends on everything... but I would wish that, were he to decide to propose, he would pick one up secretly. I'd love to have him just... actually pick one out just because he thought I'd like it. That'd be my preference.

Ultimately he picked it out. He asked me one night when I was drunk what kind of ring I would want and I told him nothing super blingy more understated. He did well getting me a ring with one diamond on it

I think he knows me pretty well. However, he is a pretty manly man and does not belong in the Jewlery store :P. For our big wedding we are going to pick out the ring together

My SO and I are planning on getting engaged when he's here in January. We decided that what we're going to do is have me pick out a few different rings that I really like, and he gets to make the final decision. I want the actual engagement itself to be a surprise though. The ring isn't as important as the words, but I still want something that I love. He doesn't really know what kind of jewelry I like (even though I've shown him numerous pictures) so this is really the best arrangement for us.

I love surprises, but I am also very specific on our timeline. Mainly, I wanted to be old enough when we got engaged, I did not want to be LDR, I wanted it to be sometime when we could afford some kind of wedding, and therefore I pretty much gave it straight to him when I thought would be good to eventually get engaged. He agreed so I think its coming pretty soon after we close the distance. We have also been to look at rings, but I really don't want to know what he is getting me, so we have looked at a bunch. I have one particular one in mind, but we shall see. I think that if I thought he could pick something out on his own I would have let him, but honestly he liked some stuff I wasn't so crazy for. I also think its tough for guys who go in those stores not to be sucked into buying whatever the sales lady wants to sell him. My bf went in one store and this lady almost had him sold on something, but when I went there they were a bit more respectful and didn't push anything on me, so be warned if you send your man alone especially if he has no idea what he is looking for Sorry if my post sounds super materialistic but this can be a big purchase and you wouldn't buy a car or computer without seeing it first or getting what you wanted (not that my ring would be as much as a car, just trying to get a good analogy :P)

I think my SO freaked out when I told him I wanted him to surprise me. xD I love the idea of being surprised by it...I would hate to go to a store to pick out a ring together... it would make me so sad. He was really hoping I would prefer to go with him...that way he can't mess up...but I've given him ideas as to what kinds of rings I like...that should be enough =P! lol

I want it to be a surprise! Luckily, he dislikes yellow gold also, and that would have been my only worry.
Whatever he gets me, I will love it! Knowing he picked it out special just for me, because he loves me, will make it the most beautiful ring in the world to me.

We planned on going around together and looking at nice rings and then him picking one, but they're so expensive here it was silly to buy one. So my mom picked one out for me in the USA. Supposedly my SO helped (along with my sister, my grandma, and my mom's friends). I still don't know what it is yet! Can't wait to see it

My SO surprised me-I gave him some guidelines and we looked at rings together. My main thing was that I wanted it to be sparkly, not yellow gold, and for it to fit me. He DEFINITELY picked out a sparkly ring!! It's gorgeous and perfect and *happy sigh*. He has good taste.
