    Skype problems.

So my SO has a computer with built in camera and mic, which is great and convenient and all but I have trouble understanding her sometimes and often shes a little blurry. Also sometimes I hear my voice back when I speak (probably sound goin from the speakers to the mic).

So I was wondering if there is any computer settings that could help this or would it be useful to invest in a webcam? She uses a pc btw.

The blurry-ness is most likely from the quality of the webcam. Most built-in cameras aren't that great, although they are getting better. As far as the mic, it may be something similar but it could also be linked to her internet connection.

An external camera may solve some of the blur, but if her internet connection is slow, it might not make much of a difference.

It happens to me too, I think its just the connection/bugs with skype sometimes. A better webcam might make things clearer and maybe a headset microphone to stop the background noise but I don't think there are any settings you can adjust to fix it.

you could try using Oovoo it has a better cam reception and as for your voice repeating have her plug headphones into the laptop that way she can hear and talk to you but you won't be hearing yourself echoing.

Sometimes it happens, where the webcam does get a blurry. Other times, the cams are crystal clear. I think that it has to do with a few bugs in Skype, or the net connection.

Miguel had the same issues. He just bought a fancy dancy new touch computer, which happens to have an extremely shitty webcam/mic going on. I literally just bought him the cheapest webcam ever, and it fixed everything.
Try using headphones when that happens. Thereīs probably a techy way to fix it, but I havenīt got the patience to figure it out when headphones work fine :P

I sometimes hear echoing through Skype with my SO and he usually unplugs his headset and plugs it back in. Depending on the bandwidth of the internet, that will have some effect on the quality of the webcam. Mine fluctuates a bit with my internet speeds (having some internet issues at the moment). Turning the camera off and on helps sometimes too.

Assuming the above hasn't worked, consider grabbing an older OR newer version of Skype. Sometimes the developers fiddle around with settings and have unnecessary features that bog things down.

Headset would solve the echo problem and if you have a hard time hearing her, that's what I do when I talk to my SO on Skype and its the connection that causes blurryness. We have that same problem most the time if she just turns the cam off through Skype and turns it back on it could fix it sometimes it needs to be left off for a few minutes to clear it.

I find most in-built webcam devices (even my brand new laptop's) to be quite unsatisfying compared to a device that was designed specifically for that one function and has to do it right. I recommend buying a HD webcam... I bought one from Microsoft that has an inbuilt HD microphone and it has never even once disappointed me.
