Google Talk Doesn't Work...Need Some Help.

If anyone can help I'd be extremely grateful. I am really out of hope right now and really hope someone has some suggestions. My SO and I have used Google Talk for months now, and it has worked fine despite him being on dial up. We could talk for hours on it with little problem. It was so nice to have after Skype was impossible with his connection! Everything was fine until a few weeks ago when it just stopped working for us. He had a bit of trouble with his internet but it seems to be working now, and still Google Talk will not work. What happens is we will call and maybe get one bar for one second and then it just goes out. It's really sad and frustrating, and it wouldn't be a concern if he had access to high speed internet and I had enough money to for phone calls. We are only two states away so it's not international calls, but still a good phone plan is out of my budget since I'm in college and trying to save all my money for our future.

So what I want to know is does anyone know of how to possibly fix this or can suggest another way to talk for free? Does anyone else have to struggle with dial up and have any suggestions at all?

Internet issues can get really frustrating Have you tried MSN or Tinychat? I'm not sure how those will work with dial-up but good luck!

We haven't tried them yet, but we are thinking of trying MSN and praying it will work. I'll have to look into Tinychat. At least we can talk by instant message, but we are hoping to voice chat again really soon. Nothing can replace hearing his voice when I'm having a stressful day. Thanks.

Try Oovoo, Viber, or Tango. I think you have to be in Wifi for it, but it's always worth a shot! Skype's been a really crappy connection for us lately, too. :/

          Best of luck!

MY SO and I only use Google Talk. It started acting up a month ago, I put in a ticket, they told me to re-install Google Talk. It seems better now, but sometimes I have to hit video 4 or 5 times before it works. Did you sign up for Google Plus? That is when I started to have trouble with regular Google talk. I found that I could use the Google Plus Hangout, but I didn't think the quality was as good. My SO uses G+ to talk to his family in Turkey and it works great for multiple parties...they love that.

            Good Luck!

We don't use Google Plus, and my boyfriend did re-install Google Talk, but I didn't. I actually tried it on two computers, and it still didn't work, so I don't think it would help much.
Maybe Google Plus would work, but hopefully something will workout. It makes no sense to me why it worked so great before and now it doesn't. Thanks!
