Skype, Viber, Facetime... or what else?

Hi everybody.

Long time I needed help. My relationship is going like a clockwork and everything is fine. Except for one little thing.

We used to chat and cam via Skype. Recently, a few weeks ago, my lady had an update on her phone and now her Skype has changed, the layout, she means. She hates to use it now and we switched to Viber. That was always or back up in case something happened with Skype, but now it's our main source of communication.

Come to it, we both like Viber less than (the old version of) Skype, but since she hates the new version, we use the purple-one.

But...

Always a but, right?

But she said that she won't cam on Viber, because for some reason on her phone that doesn't work pretty well (or the resolution of the app is low, so we'de have bad visuals). That means we switch back to Skype for camming. She still hates that app since the update.

Now I hear a lot of you people mention Facetime. We both should have to install it and I wonder if Facetime is as good as Skype used to be? Can anyone give me a handout, or have some good alternatives for camming?

I think you both need iPhones to use Facetime, I believe it's an Apple proprietary app. You can try Google Hang-outs, it works pretty well. Even FB messenger has been working nicely. There are a ton out there, most work all the same, it's just a matter of finding a layout you both like. Experiment a bit, until you find the one that works for you

Telegram. IT'S SUPER COMFORTABLE. For anything. You can write longer messages and they look nice, you can quote, you can tag, you can edit, you can properly search in a conversation, you can see files and even the links you've shared, you can customise colour themes. I don't know, just try it too.

It doesn't support a video call tho. Me and my ex boyfriend used it for chatting and Skype for calls only. Worked the best for us.

It's the videocalls that are giving the problems. Thanks, it sounds nice, though.

You don't have to have FB to have messenger...you can sign up without it. My sister used it for quite awhile before getting Facebook...I think she just needed an email.

My girlfriend and I use LINE for our video calls, and we're using facebook messenger for typing, sending pictures.. (which also is possible on LINE)

Dischord works well. It does everything, you can even have group chatting servers, etc. Look it up. There's even an LFAD group chat on Dischord. Details are somewhere on the site.
