Read a book! A real life historical "LDR"

I've recently come across this amazing book (also available in eBook format) about probably one of the more extreme types of LDRs.

Just Send Me Word by Orlando Figes recounts the real life account of Lev and Svetlana, two Russian physicists who kept in touch via letters while Lev was in a gulag for years. Somehow, they managed to write to each other and keep their love alive despite the horrible social, political and even humanitarian circumstances that surrounded them. I haven't finished reading it yet but I'm definitely hooked!!

Seems like a great read for any couple (:

This is the amazon link if anyone is interested!

I just read the pages it lets you see for free and I'm hooked! My summer sessions end in 9 days, so I'll probably get it from the library when I get home or I might end up buying it. My SO and I are both huge readers and history fans so I might see if he'll read it with me. It'll be tough though since he's currently reading the Game of Thrones series.

I love reading and this seems pretty interesting! Too bad vacations are almost over and my reading pace will slow down a lot. Hope I still get the time to read!

Looks wonderful! My SO and I are major history buffs ^.^

Another great read for anyone who's interested in The Letters of John and Abigail Adams. I'm not allowed to link to it because I haven't posted enough But it's on Amazon - their letters are absolutely breathtaking. Also a real life, historical journey. I think if you enjoyed Just Send me Word, you'd enjoy The Letters, too!

That's too funny. I actually just wrote a paper for my history class on John Adams. While I was researching I looked at some of the letters they wrote to each other, they were beautiful. <3
                        Old school LDR!

That's two new suggestions to the reading list, I might actually get the SO the John Adams one as a gift as he's really into American history.

Seems like a good read. Really anything with love letters from the past is fantastic - people used to write such sweet and interesting things
I made love to him only twice, she thought and looked at the man laying asleep beside her. And yet still it is as if we have been together forever, as if he has always known my life, my soul, my body, my light, my pain
