After so many of you mentioning skype sleepover and saying how nice it was, I convinced my SO to try it with me. I had to make use of the opportunity that we are now 3 hours apart, so it wasn't so difficult to try a sleepover. I did go to bed later than usual but I didn't mind at all...

Ok, so my first try didn't go so well because I didn't place the cord correctly and while sleeping I must have pulled the cord accidentally and so when I woke up my pc was turned off. ;v; Another try ended up in a fail again when one of us lost internet in the middle of the night so when I woke up the video call was off. BUT! Third time was the charm and when we finally succeeded... OMG, it was amazing! I really liked it! I woke up earlier than him and it was still dark on his side but I kept lying in my bed watching him sleep and it was utter bliss. It was soooo nice being able to see him wake up and saying "good morning". It was a great experience!

    Looking for the future...

Me and my SO do this every night. It is actually hard for us to sleep without each other now. That sense of presence is amazing

We've done this every night for six months, my SO has slept with his headphones on every night, I tell him he's crazy but he says he wants to be able to hear me if I need him in the night! I have a laptop so I just place it on the other side of the bed. It is amazing, I honestly cannot sleep without him now.

The first time we did it, we just did it voice but every night after that with the camera too. I love to fall asleep to his breathing, and wake up in the night to see him asleep. And he wakes me up every morning with an I love you. THink he'll find it hard sleeping without headphones on when he moves here in two and a bit months!!!

we tried it before and we found out that it works better for us when we fall asleep on the phone, and who ever wakes up throughout the night hangs up, and the one that wakes up first in the morning calls i love doing this and we specially do it on the weekends

This is something that my SO and I have tried, and we discovered that we can't do it. He is one of those people that has to have complete and total darkness to sleep, so the light from his laptop bothers him. And regardless of that, one of us always ends up losing internet connection! I don't know what the problem is, but it really bothers me because this is something that I would really like to do!

I'm the same way kelbug, I like it to be pitch black when I sleep. We used to "try" to skype sleep all the time but I told her I couldn't as often anymore cause I just can't sleep well when we did. The noise and light or even when the connection dies, I just don't rest. Now when we do it it'll be on a weekend where I don't have to worry about sleeping as much. lol

The light bothered me for a couple of nights, but I got used to it. I tend to face away from the screen to fall asleep anyway and I turned down teh brightness on my laptop. As for the sound, we turned off all the Skype noises and turned on auto answer, so it it dies in the night, whoever notices first just calls back and it will automatically connect to the other person.

That's a really good idea...I never thought about turning on auto answer and having whoever notices call back...I may see if he wants to try that.

I love to skype sleep, although I can only use my ipod touch because my wifi just won't go the distance from the router, perhaps its the brick walls? The ipod is great although it's difficult to put in to position & keeps falling over. One positive thing is that the light isn't so bright on my ipod because it's a much smaller screen which is great.

Me and my SO used to do this all the time. But we found that it became difficult to do it. We did not do the video sleeping tho ( i'm going to have to broach that with him). We did just the call sleeping. We went through many headsets doing this ( he always buys the more expensive kind. Me its about how easily it can be replaced due to the fact I have a 7 yr old BOY running around my house. I'd do it without the headset, but my SO snores pretty loud.)

My SO and I do this all the time, but only when he's the one who is sleeping (he's always not around when i'm about to go to bed because of our time zones). We use the iPod because it's easier there (but it's always falling! I need to invent a tripod for iPods!) and there's less light. The only problem is that most of the time the connection is lost in the middle of the night so when he wakes up I'm already gone.

But still, it is awesome because I can hear his snore and sleeping sounds while I'm doing my own stuff (work or watch movies) and I can stare at him like a creep all day! He looks like an angel when he sleeps.

I wish I could do this. I noticed that some people on here with a 6-hour time difference have done it, which excites me. But unfortunately I live with others and the computer is in their bedroom. Maybe if they went on vacation, lol. But how would I do this with a PC? I think my headset can reach the end of the bed with its long cord, but not sure if the webcam cord can reach that far. Any suggestions?

Do you have an iPod? That will do. Or your phone with a front cam will do too (as long as it's an iOS or an Android phone). If not, you can just tilt your webcam cord to an angle where you can be seen though it will be a bit far when you sleep. Anyway, when you skype sleep with your SO, sometimes it's the sleeping sounds that matters more especially when you sleep in the dark.
