    Recording a book

My SO wants me to record a book for him. Like me reading it. He loves my voice for some reason [I'm not fond of it] and gets a kick out of my "accent" [he's Canadian, I'm American and due to moving a lot have quite a mix of things... I still think he has more of an accent then me though ]
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best way to do this. I'm not all too spiffy with technology or too up-to-date on websites so I don't know if there's a super easy way to do this, or anything like that.
I don't want it to be super low quality, but I also don't have a job [I'm 16, about to start senior year. A job isn't really an option right now] so I'd don't have a bunch of money to spend on any fancy recording crap. (:

I think the best way would be to take a chapter at a time, then mix them together. Or if he likes your voice, why not just read him a chapter a night over Skype so you don't have to record?

Macs come with free audio software, and I'm pretty sure you can still record /wav files on PC's, so it shouldn't cost you...

Every Windows PC/laptop comes with a sound recorder. Just plug your microphone in and start recording! It's really good quality too (depending on the microphone though...) and afterwards you can just burn it onto a cd/dvd and send it to him.

I think the Skype thing would work out well. But I just wanted to say that I think this idea is super cute! =)

^^ also there is a free program called audacity that you can download- just plug in you microphone, press start on the program, and it starts recording till you want to finish, you can even record little bits then join them up just by dragging the clips into a row. I'm not very computer savvy, but I work fine with it.
