    Cooperative Game Suggestions

    Hi, all.

My SO and I play some games on Facebook, as well as some games from OMGPop (which was suggested on LFAD). We have found some favourites that we play quite consistently, but we are also discovering that we would like something that would be more about us cooperating or interacting together, rather than being super competitive and/ or playing the game in parallel but not interacting in real time (e.g. farm or baking type games).

There are some more particulars, though (I know...picky, picky! ):
-We aren't interested in/ are avoiding very involved things like World of War Craft or Second Life and would rather something less time-consuming or simpler (especially since we feel like we are already playing some of these other games too much, as it is).
-We would like something that is free.
-We would like something that, even if we do have to sign up for it (create an account, I mean...not pay), that it would be a site where they don't ask for a ridiculous amount of information, our privacy is protected, and we wouldn't get buggy things in our computers from using the site.
-(This should have been listed earlier and is maybe implied, but I thought I would mention it) I guess something that can be found and played online with a computer (i.e. don't have to download anything excessive or go out and get matching gaming systems).

Something like a cooperative puzzle/ mini game, a simple turn-taking or partnered adventure game, or something slightly competitive but real-time (sort of like Smash Bros.) have been ideas that have interested us. Do you have any suggestions? Have you tried any of the ones that Michelle and Frank recommend and have favourites from there to suggest?

I've been looking for the same thing! I haven't had any luck, though...

A quick thought on this would maybe be to try and alternate running a character on world of warcraft or something like that.
A while back, I went to start https://runescape.com after reading a lot of reviews with some of the same criteria you have.
I actually never ended up playing, but I made an account, so it must have been good for whatever reason.

I used to play Worms in college. I actually bought the cd and used that. I don't think it is too expensive. Worms Armageddon. It is a turn based game. You get a shot, they get a shot. Mildly competitive, but it is cartoons, and worms.

Unfortunately, I think the best answer for this type of request is to use something like Xbox or PS2/3. (almost) All the sports games have co-op games you can play together against the computer.

I just found some more suggestions, but I am at work and can not delve too deep at the moment.

      To be continued...

Aww, I was gonna suggest Halo Reach or Fable 3. T_____T

For computer games, we play League of Legends. It's fun and you work together, so it's awesome to be able to play together.

I just saw my sister playing "Club Penguin" with her friend. You are penguins in this penguin world and you move around from area to area where there are books to read and games to play together. You can have houses that you fix up and everything.

I think it is free to join, and you pay for upgrades.

Definitely a kids game, but you could check it out!

Actually, I tried out Asda Story too. You find a 'soulmate' (you can choose whoever you want), and you go on quests together and take care of eachothers character and it's pretty fun, more like a kiddie version of WoW but very cute and fun. You have to sign up but it's free, unless you want to buy more costumes.

My boyfriend and I play Halo Reach ALL the time, it's so much fun (and he loves having a girlfriend who can hold her own in a FPS... ). If you both have an xbox360, there are tons of games you can play online such as Family Game Night (you can buy games such as Connect 4, Jenga, etc). There are tons more but thats the first one that comes to mind. I'm sure the Wii and PS3 offer the same things.

If you both have an ipod touch or iphone, you can get a game like Words with Friends and play back and forth in a scrabble like game. There are tons of awesome free (and paid) games you can get on there too.

As far as online games go, Scott and I will play some of the Skype games when we're bored (I always crush him at the battleship game!) and yahoo! games is great because the games are fun (Literati and Graffiti are our favorites) and they don't bug up your computer like games on omgpop.com tend to do.

                  I hope these suggestions help!

Okay, I have another one!! Minecraft!! You can either download it for free or you can buy it for under 15$, and you can make your own online server so you can both play together in the same world. It's a one time fee and you get all the updates for free, and it's freaken ADDICTING!! Pretty much you get this infinite world of blocks and it's just a giant sandbox. You can do ANYTHING, from building huge fortresses and castles to mining deep underground to discover jewels and underground caverns to make game or mazes out of it or rollercoasters that go wherever you want to drawing with the blocks to fighting monsters to farming to exploring to anything else you can imagine!! It's so simple but so fun, and me and Brandon spent over 12 hours straight playing it yesterday!!

                    Here's some information if you're interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minecraft

My boyfriend and I met in Runescape, so I definitely have a soft spot for it. When we're long distance we spend quite a bit of time playing it together. I suppose it could be competitive, but we tend to choose something we can work towards at the same time, so we can spend time together in game. Plus it gives us something to talk about (which is always good in an LDR).

That being said, we don't play at all when we're together in person :P
