    Places/ideas for tresure hunt!

So, I have 8 books that I'm wrapping and hiding for Obi to find on our anniversary. It's likely he'll have the day off and I wont, so I want to keep him running around for a bit. Have him thinking of us even though I'll be away for a bit of it.

He'll have the first clue, then each book will have a clue with it to point him to the next one. And the last book tells him (if he can puzzle it out) where to drive me to dinner to get his last gift. (He'll think it's another book, but it isn't.)

I'm happy to get his friends and family in on this too. One of the books will be at his parent's house, one at a friend's out-of-town, and one will be buried under a tree outside a hotel where we once stayed a night (If I can pull it off!)...

But I need a lot more ideas on where to put them. Making the puzzles are easy enough... but thinking of interesting places outside of the home isn't.

    Help?
Happily married to the little Canadian boy I never thought I'd meet in person

Tape one (wrapped, of course) to the lift gate on the trunk of his car? Make it the second to last hint, saying something about how he's had it with him all day. You can probably come up with something clever. Or hidden behind the spare tire or something. In the trunk of his car.

Does he or do you have a locker at work, or rent one at a gym? That could be another place.

If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion...love actually is all around

This may sound bizarre...but a front desk of a public place will usually do this for you. Like a police station (really freak him out) or a library or some sort of office. I used to work at an information desk and we got people doing scavenger hunts ALL the time! If they asked nicely, I would always do it for them. Once they even gave me paper bag filled with condoms to give to the person on the hunt....

The car just got added to my list!

Work would be awesome. Gee that'd show some effort on my part unfortunately, even if did commute out there and managed to find the building, I couldn't get in. Cool idea though

Usually people would just say, "Hi I am doing a treasure hunt for my boyfriend and I'm hoping to have a clue lead him here. Is there anyway you guys would be willing to hold onto his next clue (or book or whatever) until tomorrow when he comes to get it?"
If you are sweet and bat your eyelashes (works only on the opposite sex ) Then they usually do it. If they say no: just try another place.

Then if I were you, I would have the clue tell him what to say...like...shoot...I don't know, it depends what your clues are like. Mine are usually rhyming clues with the last word missing so they have to guess. Something like this:

            When you're acting bad
            In this great nation
            You'll take a trip
            to the police _____

Haha okay I know it's bad but it was the best I could do on short notice. And then you could either leave it up to him to be really awkward and be like "uhh did my girlfriend leave something here?"
Or you could tell him on the clue to "ask at the front desk for "the book" or something.

Sorry that was all over the place. Did it make sense/help?

That did you always make me giggle.

OOO I got it! I can leave it at a games shop.. and the clue could be the geek's love poem:
              roses are #FF0000
              violets are #0000FF
              all my base
              are belong to you

"all your base are belong to us" is a classic gaming cheat. He's a gamer, so he should recognize the reference. If not, his friends will

I'll post a list of clues and places when the project is done, so others can re-use things

The last gift is just a small bag of chocolates and a hand-made card.

Strange. Doesn't make much sense grammatically.

But yeah I like your idea!! I love doing rhyming clues...they're so much fun!

Haha it's ok. I just threw it out there. I'd probably leave the key to a gym locker as the hint for the next clue (keys to the lockers at my gym have tags with the gym's name on it).

If only Obi would go to the gym. I seriously don't get it. He sits on his arse literally all day, does not have a single active hobby... yet he stays toned and full of hotness while I with the much more active lifestyle am gaining the "comfortable relationship pudge". Grr.

                          Mini rant over lol.

I still need more ideas people Three books to go!

Ugh SAME rant over here!! My fiance doesn't have much exercise besides basketball and he's still buff and fit. And I've got that "comfortable relationship pudge" that you are talking about!

Anywho...do you need ideas outside of your guys' house?
If you want something inside the house....my mom once hid my easter basket in the oven and my brother's in the dryer.

In the house is way tricky because it's a tiny one bedroom basement, and I'll have to have all the pieces in place the day before or earlier. He'd likely pre-heat the oven without checking and set the house on fire. >< I also have to be careful not to stumble on any Christmas things he might be hiding from me. :P
But... looking around.. I could probably get one inside his computer case. *nods*

                              Two to go!
