Question about using person font made with YourFonts.com?

On the Activities For Couples I did #83 of making a font from my handwriting using YourFonts.com. But I cannot figure out how to use it on an Instant Messenger client or email. When I tried to research how, I only saw people saying that you cannot use a custom font for an Instant Messenger client/ email/ or personal website. That if the person doesn't have the same font installed they won't see it.
And even though I installed my font, I'm not even seeing in as an option on my Yahoo messenger. So far I have been able to test in on Microsoft Word but nothing else

Try to contact the person that suggested that idea and ask them how they use it!
