This is a game idea I came up with for next weeks movie and game night with my far away Love.
What the game Wise or Otherwise is:
https://www.boardgamecentral.com/gam...otherwise.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wise_and_Otherwise
How to play the game long distance:
1. Take turns finding websites (or books) that have lists of ancient proverbs.
For my example I will use this proverb I found at https://www.worldofquotes.com:
"It is better to walk fast than to grow angry at the forest. " - A Senegalese Proverb
2. Tell your partner the first half of the proverb: "It is better to walk fast than.. "
3. Create 2 made up endings with the real ending in A, B, or C order.
For my example:
A. be late
B. grow angry at the forest
C. loose sight from what is before you
4. If your partner picks one of your fake endings, you are awarded the points
5. If he/she guesses the correct ending they are awarded the points
(Decide on a point system such as 10 points awarded for each round, whoever gets to 100 points first wins the game)
6. Take turns picking quotes/creating false endings and being the one to guess
The benefit of ancient proverbs in this quote game vs. modern ones, besides not being wildly known, they often are just plain "wierd" and sometimes really funny!
Some more examples:
An intelligent enemy is worth more...
A. than a stupid friend.
B. than a reckless one.
C. than no enemy at all
Correct Answer: A
Little by little, one catches...
A.the coins in a large pot
B. fish in the ocean
C.the monkey in the jungle
Correct Answer: C
"The frog likes water..."
A. and the bird likes the air
B. where he awaits his pray
C. but not boiling water
Correct Answer: C
"It is better to be loved than.."
A. Hated
B. Feared
C. Taken for a fool
Correct Answer: B
You get the idea
Warmly,
Christine
