I have to agree with Darth on this one, whilst I would love to be fresh as a daisy...... after 30 odd hrs on planes I'm dying for a nicotene fix and in no fit state for beautification.

Of course I brush my teeth, spray a bit of deoderant and run brush through the mess on my head but only to ensure I get a kiss and his fingers don't get stuck in my hair. My SO did say that he liked meeting me at the airport, tired, mussed up and looking like I needed a hug, sinking into his arms in relief. He said it made him feel very rugged and manly that he could then sweep me off and take of care of me until I was over it all.

Hello all - this is my first actual post, just wanted to join in this one.

A mini bottles of deodrant (ie within the 100ml allowance for carry on) is a must in my opinon!

I dont know if they have this in other countries but they have it in the UK - dry shampoo. Comes in an aerosol like deodrant or hairspray, spray it on, brush it through and boom - freshend hair! ESPECIALLY great for fringes!

Also agree with the leave all make up off until last 1/2hr or so, use a face wipe to get all the grease (and if your anything like me remnants of chocolate dessert) off your face, then do the basic makeup (foundation, mascara maybe some lippy) and your done.

Personally my SO likes me without makeup at all but after umpteen hours travelling I NEED some makeup to feel human!

As for outfits I'd recommend jeans and a cute tshirt. I also (if I have space) chuck some heels in my carry on so I can kick off the icky trainers and feel tres glamourous when I arrive - because heels really are that awesome!
Tea and hugs make the world go round - don't ever discount the little things in life.

Smiling away to oneself brings an obscene amount of joy when only you know the reason why your smiling. Pick something secret to smile about and let it light up your face all day long!

And remember....Love really IS all around.

I was gonna suggest just using the aiport toilets to do whatever you need to do (hey, I'm a guy - I dont know make-up or whatever) but it looks like that's already been mentioned.

Er.. wear light clothes so you're not too hot/sweaty on the flight? I dunno x)

Looks like I'm not much help

Id take some baby wipes and those can make you feel fresh and clean touch up ure face and other parts of ure body if need be. I am a fan of listerene patches take 2 at a time to freshen ure breath. Spray a light mist of body spray inbetween ure layers of clothes since these scents dont last that long but still linger slightly under layers of clothes. Dont play around with your hair that tends to make it greasier and feel dirty faster.
Just relax though, I know alot of men and women that enjoying seeing their partner a messy and without all the formalities. It shows that you are comfortable with them seeing you when ure vulnerable. Eventually the idea is to close the distance and live together so its not like you will always be top notch, better to see you when ure not all dolled up all the time. My opinion anyways.

Okay so I have been traveling to the Uk to see my SO repeatedly, since its an international flight I have to be at the airport 3 hours in advance of the flight....the flight is another 6.5 hours...(had a 3 hour on tarmac delay once)so for a day long travel.... here is my 'must haves' in my carry on.
            1. slipper socks-(wear pumps, change into the socks at the gate or once I've boarded)
            2. RAYON wrap dress-it can fit into a ziplock sandwich baggie and NEVER wrinkles if dry (I am a size 16) so its the perfect fabric to travel with! Cheap 24 dollars usd max
            3. travel tooth brush and paste
            4. sample bottle or swab of my perfume
            5. small 2oz water mister (leave it empty for less hassle)
            6. the basic make up I carry in my purse (powder foundation, lipgloss, mascara, blush, eye color &q-tips) also in a ziplock bag
            7. flushable baby wipes
            8. small hairbrush
            9. sunglasses

I wear light weight knit or rayon blend clothes without buttons or zippers, NON cotton underwear as it wrinkles and stays sweat wet if you get hot, carry a puzzle book, thriller mystery book, bottled water and ear plugs. 30 minutes from landing I hit the tiny bathroom (looking for empty seats or rows on the way) I fill the water mister, wash up and brush my teeth, mist my hair damp to brush it out to look smooth, and change while seated on the closed commode, I hit the empty row or couple seats to put on my make up with privacy, dab on a tiny bit of perfume and hit my seat to change back into my pumps!

Let me say.....I could arrive a complete mess and he'd love me, and still want to hump my leg in the terminal.... but I WANT to arrive and knock his socks off..

Everything I know, and anywhere I go, It gets hard but it won't take away my love,
And when the last one falls, when it's all said and done, It gets hard but it won't take away my love

Exactly!! That's my point. A little effort is nice. Anyway, everybody had such great ideas, keep 'em coming!
I'm getting lucky this this trip, I'm arriving while he's still at work, so I'll have a few hours at his place alone to shower and get all pretty for once. Now my biggest problem is going to be pronouncing his street name to the taxi driver I'm writing it down since I'm sure that sequence of letters was NEVER meant to be able to be said out loud!

Lol I agree...that's one of those shut up and kiss me moments. I have been up way longer than I would have liked and sitting on a plane in a cramped seat with strangers for hours...I need you to remind me why I just went through all of that...Lol tell me if I smell. But I would say that when I travel I wear a cute outfit in the first place. I don't get too sweaty...but a spritz of body splash and a piece of gum usually do the trick if I have extra time as in he isn't waiting at the airport like he should be I might go put on some eyeliner and a shadow to open my eyes a bit and maybe chapstick...But that's a might lol

Even though I'm pretty sure my SO won't be able to see me the first time I get off the plane and I'll have plenty of time to doll myself up again, I still think about what'd happen if he decided to surprise me. So here's some things I managed to come up with.

                              * Don't wear any make-up. At least not when you first get on the plane. It'll just get all rubbed off and smeary and have to be removed. Use the last 10-15 of the ride to apply it on so it still looks fresh when you get off

                              * Pull your hair back. For me this means straightening it the night before and keeping it in a loose ponytail. That way it's easy to be let down with little maintenance and won't look all scruffy (I know we all have different hair types though so it may take some creative ideas to figure out what method works for you)

*Brings mints! Yeah. Airline food is icky and if you don't have time to find a bathroom to brush your teeth, pop in a mint and it'll sure make a difference

                              * Find a cute travel outfit. Yeah, I know, for those long, all day flights all you wanna wear is some sweatpants and a t-shirt. But if you don't have time to change I think it's a good idea to investing a comfy outfit that still looks cute. For some people this might include a skirt, a stylish V-neck sweater, leggings, stretch jeans...there really is a wide variety out there, just have to search!

*If you're on an uber long flight, try to sleep as much as you can so you won't feel and look as groggy when it's time to wake up and board off

Well that's all I can think of for now, I hope some of those helped
I can't agree more than this!

I try to use less make up (mascara, lip gloss for fresh look, also transparent loose powder) or not wear it at all! I only use vit.e cream as base on my face and body lotion for my arms and legs as during the flights usually the aircond will dry out the skin, If im afraid my face would shine and oily i will put some baby powder, just a little bit... and yes... i always pull my hair back, made a bun on top of your head, when you landed then you will have cute wavy (i used to do this when i sleep at night if i want to have a little bit wave on my hair) and try to get sleep as much as possible. I also always bring perfumed wet tissue, hehe for my armpit also for my feet.. well i am not that smelly, but the cause of the body smell is germs... so.. it help i think (beside deo of course)

Oh.. a black legging and a loose top also great to wear when you're traveling long time. Legging and loose top pretty comfy (for me). I also always carry a pashamina shawl/big pretty scarf, because i could use it as blanket, scarf, beach cover, i could put it over my head and its stylish too.

I always use flats or my comfy shoes when i am flying over 4 hours. If its still within 60min range.. hehe.. i would love wear heels or boots!

Bottom line, if you're flying long hours try to wear something loose, also comfortable... dark color better as it will hide stains incase theres any food/drink incident during the flight and dark color help you look slimmer!

...and yes.. use airport toilets to refresh and put more make up and fix the hair or change your clothes before going to the arrival gate would be excellent!!
