    Best flight deals?

I'm trying to go back to Norway in Feb for boyfran's birthday. I usually just Google search flights detroit to Oslo and browse prices on their calendar. What do you guts use to track prices and find your best deals?

You will get the cheapest prices if you buy your tickets 6 weeks before your departure date.

I usually use skyscanner, cheaptickets or the website of airline itself(where I ended up booking both of my tickets). Also don't forget to check different airports (if they're close). For me it made a 600 euro difference to fly from Brussels Airport instead of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport which are both the same distance from me.
And as my girlfriend above said, 6 weeks before

I've booked with Lastminute.com, Air canada directly and with Studentuniverse.com and so far they've all been pretty good. Lastminute.com and student universe are pretty much just a tool to look through all the flights available and with student universe you get flights cheaper if you're a student. For an example, looking on lastminue.com the flight i got to see my SO in June was gonna cost at least £950-1000, but on student universe i got it for £870. The tip is basically just use a website which shows you all the different airlines and then when you find one check the airlines own site as they're often cheaper if you book directly with the airline. I think I read somewhere that flights will be cheaper 6 months before but i've found their cheapest about 4 months before and then as the poster above me as said about 6 week before, but with flights from UK/US there often isn't any choice at all if you leave it that late and you'll have like 21 hour layovers and such.

All that was mentioned above, plus either clear your cookies or browse in private/incognito mode. It's stupid but the prices change if you check frequently cause your browser saves your search data.
Also you can sign up for free alerts from this website, I've heard it's quite good! https://www.airfarewatchdog.com/

An obvious one, but make sure you're looking at the budget airlines. My flight in August would have been over $2,000 with any of the normal airlines like Delta or American Airlines, but I ended up with a flight for $900 through Air Lingus including extra baggage. Talk about a steal! I originally looked at Skyscanner like others here and then from there googled a bunch of budget airlines to find the best deal. A lot of them are not included on Skyscanner, so you have to make sure you look at them all individually in order to determine what the best deal actually is. Also, if you have a favorite airline, you can get emails that show deals. It may not work for this trip, but if you are flexible in dates you can find some amazing deals that way.

I have yet to meet my SO, but I was doing just some random Google search, checking the prices, etc. And since I had no interest in booking anything what I paid more attention to was airlines.
I am not really worried about this because he and his family travel quite a lot, he knows his stuff and he'll be the one to visit me first, but this way I found one particular budget airline which he agreed to that seemed the most sensible choice for us to travel with.

Another thing that's already mentioned is booking the tickets prior some time (we are gonna do it months before) and trying as many dates as possible that your schedule flexibility allows you to.

We book 6 weeks to 3 months in advance... we pay all up front, but savings are worth it.. we had a RT ticket from TPA to IAD and back for 89 bucks.. yup I said 89...
We also have a mileage card and that helps a lot.. Get free trips after a bit!

Thanks, I knew I'd find some answers here I'm probably only flying there once a year, I wonder if it would be a good idea to open a credit card with flyer miles on it...
