Yeah the prices change all the time, even from hour to hour in some cases, especially with cheap airlines. This is because the price is based on demand, rather than a set price.
Try https://www.skyscanner.com/ - that's the flight comparison site I use. I can't really suggest any cheap transatlantic airlines to you cause I just haven't got a clue...In a relationship with

Where are you looking to fly from/to? I find that www.kayak.com is the best since it searches most international carriers and it is easy to use (you can be flexible with dates and such). I put a price alert on kayak and then they send me like a weekly email telling me the prices for the dates I gave them, that way I can watch when prices start going up. Prices can change daily just depending.
Try Kayak and I hope it helps!

Hey
I use cheapflights when i'm not too worried about dates, to get the idea of which days are cheapest then look around the net at expedia, kayak, skyscanner at those dates.
Cheapflights have this handy 'date table' thing if you say your flexible, sometimes flying a day earlier or later or staying a couple of days more can save you hundreds.
Also sometimes, booking direct with the airline can be cheaper, as can flying to a 'nearby airport' then getting a train or a bus to where you want to go.
For example, last time I flew to Canada I wanted to get to Ottawa. Cheapest way to do it was to book a flight to Montreal, with 'Swiss Air' via their hub in Geneve, then get a train to Ottawa. Bit of messing but saved me about £300!
Take a look!

Would it be possible for someone to take you to Boston or to New York for your departure? Because from the looks of things, you have to make a lot of connections, and that's definitely driving the price up.
I mean, I just did a quick price comparison between flying from Hartford and flying from Boston or New York, and it's 1/3-1/2 the price of the flights from Hartford. You'd still have to connect on the other end (you'd connect in Reykjakvik, Dublin, or London with both cities). But it's only one connection as opposed to two or three, like you were making from Hartford.
I mean, the cheapest flight I saw from Hartford, doing a quick playing around with it, was $950. The cheapest from New York was $490. It's definitely something to consider to save money.

Some ideas:
-it will probably be cheaper to fly out of a bigger airport. Are there buses or someone who can drive you to NYC or Boston?
-try searching to London and see if it's cheaper. Then you could use Easyjet or Ryanair (very cheap euro airlines) to fly to Glasgow from London. Easyjet would be about $30 one-way but they charge for any checked baggage I think.
-Iceland Air flies cheaply to Europe with layovers in Iceland. They are usually daylong layovers, it is one way they boost their tourism!
I hope these help. Finding cheap tickets definitely takes some serious internet time and you have to be okay with long and/or multiple layovers!

It's almost always cheaper to fly from NYC or Newark than it would be from Hartford. My home airport is Philly International, not exactly a small airport! I can almost never fly from there, as it's always a few hundred more, and I can take a train and bus into NYC. Check Newark, too. And yeah, prices can change hourly, my tickets I bought for next months trip are $200 more now. Don't forget to try looking at the airlines website, sometimes you can actually get the best prices from them directly, I did that with both Iceland Air and Finnar and got much better prices than I did with the discount sites. Uhhh I should have probably posted earlier...
When I was talking to my travel agent about flights to Malaysia, I showed him several online trip booking websites to get his opinion on their price and all. The main reason they are soo cheap is marketing and on top of that, that particular seat on the flight might not exist (yet they are still selling it). Say a flight is $500 listed... but you get through the booking process and add the taxes and fees, it will grow to $1500-2100. That is where they get you.
You "could" find a flight listed as low as a $1 but get slammed by $1499 in taxes and fees."Distance between two hearts is not an obstacle...rather a beautiful reminder of just how strong true love can be." ~ Anonymous
