Yes! I FINALLY MET HIM
And it was truly everything I hoped it would be and more.
People kept asking me if I was nervous, and my answer was the same every time....not at all. I was more excited and impatient than anything else. I waited an entire year for this moment. I had worked my butt off to save money, and restricted myself from spending. It was all completely worth it in the end.
Goodness, I am never going to forget when I saw him right when I walked out of my gate. I got my luggage, went through security which didn't take long at all, and opened the doors. I looked to my right, quickly skimmed and nothing. But there he was, when I looked to my left. Right when he saw the I made eye contact with him, a smile erupted on his face and kind of jumped a little hah =) I was going to walk towards him but he didn't stay put. I saw he walked around to get to me around this billboard thing, so I started making my way to walk around it as well. Just as I was going to turn left, he popped out of nowhere running towards me, we hugged immediately, and I hugged him SO tightly, I have never given a hug that grand before. He pulled away from me and before I could speak a word he kissed me. That kiss.................... that kiss was the most amazing most passionate kiss I have ever received. And he went all the way too, in front of everyone, hahahah
I got a little red in the face.
Two dorks with two huge smiles
Then he was a gentleman and carried my bags for me to his car.
From that moment on, for the next two weeks, he was perfect. Italy was perfect, and his family was perfect. yes, I met the family and the grandmother!! A bit nerve racking if you ask me. They opened up their home to me, to a complete stranger, so I was very grateful for that.
He showed me his hometown where he lives. After that he took me to Verona, Florence, Venice, Sappada, Mantova, Ravenna, and Lake Garda. I saw my favorite painter's paintings! Which I never thought I would ever get to see. They were beautiful. The food was amazing, I never ate so much in my life. I swear I thought I was going to come back 10 pounds heavier, but with the constant walking and climbing hundreds of stairs in towers and castles, I came back pretty fit ahah.
Two weeks. I was there for two weeks. Let me tell you, That was not enough time. It went by so fast. We both were getting sad the last 4 days I was there.
The night before my departure, he took me back to Verona. I decided to get a little dressed up, and he did the same. We went to Juliet's balcony, wrote our names on the wall, and attached a lock with our love messages to each other to the gate, where hundreds of other lovers had done the same. The lock came with two keys. I gave him one, while I kept the other,
Neither of us could sleep that night. We were lying in bed next to each other in the dark. Even though I couldn't see his face, I could still figure out that he was tearing up. I was too. We talked about how much we were going miss each other.
The morning came. There was a different mood between us. It wasn't the usual happy morning.
we ate breakfast, I took a shower and got my luggage all packed up. Doing some final touches.
We had lunch before we left to the airport. That was the quietest car ride we've had in the two weeks I was there.
And when we arrived at the airport and finally sat down, both of us were quiet. He kept his arm around me though. And kept kissing me,and telling me how much he'll miss me.
I couldn't help to keep looking at the time, the hour went by way to fast than what I wanted. When there were 15 minutes left, I looked down at my necklace. This necklace is special. It was given to me by my grandfather, it was my late grandmother's necklace.
I took off around my neck and stared at it. And he was curious.I turned to him and raised my hands around his neck. ANd he immediately tried to stop me. He knew about the necklace already and how important it was to me. He refused it. I looked at him with a serious face and insisted that he take it. He didn't want to. He said I shouldn't give it away. Then I told him that I'm not giving it away, that I was going to have him hold on to it until the next time we see each other again. That's when he gave in and let me put it on him.
Time was up. I had to start getting in line to get through security. He walked me to the line. We both stopped and just stared at the entrance to the line, not moving past that. I turned to him and went to hug him but he wasn't hugging me back. That's because he went to get something in his pocket. He pulled out a handwritten note and told me to read it on the plane. And I started crying. We hugged and we held on to each other as long as we could. I knew he wasn't going to be the one to let go, so I had to pull away.
I made my way slowly through the line, and thankfully he was still nearby waiting for me.I arrived to security, got checked out, and passed through. I turned to say goodbye. I waved and he waved back. I turned around and walked really slowly away. Because that was the last time I would see his face, for a loong time.
I turned around one last time, and he was STILL there. I blew a kiss at him and waved one last time. He did the same. I turned around and walked. When I went to look again, he had walked away. And that was it.
So there I was sitting down alone, waiting at my gate.
On the plane ride back home, I kept replaying everything that had happened the past two weeks. ANd I thought about how lucky I am to have him and to have finally done this. It cost a lot, but it was worth every penny. I'm already saving again for next year and I cannot wait to see the love of my life again.
And it was truly everything I hoped it would be and more.
