My husband and I decided we wanted to try for a baby. Seems like the right time to do so. Right now, I'm getting really confused about whether or not I'm pregnant. My body is telling me "probably", but my pregnancy tests are telling me "no".

I've been taking prenatal vitamins for almost two months now, long enough for me to have it in my system for when we started trying. I monitored my ovulation cycle to make sure we bang on the right days. I changed my diet up a bit, minimized stress, and have made an attempt to get better sleep (husband snores, and the futon I retreat to isn't the most comfortable ever). My period was supposed to start today, and I've had absolutely no symptoms to indicate it even plans on showing up any time soon.

I feel like I haven't really had any pregnancy symptoms, either. I got cramping a few days after ~peak ovulation~, and a day later, I was super dizzy, kept dry heaving, and ended up passing out. Problem with that is, I also whacked myself in the face with a door pretty hard (got too excited over a package delivery), so I don't know if those were just the result of bonking myself or something I should actually look into. I also have to drink peppermint tea after I eat dinner, otherwise I get super bloated and gassy and uncomfortable. Other than that, I feel fine other than being pretty tired.

I've been using ClearBlue pregnancy tests, which claim they start working up to 5 days before your missed period. I started trying them at around 3 days before. Each one came back negative. I looked online, and it's apparently pretty common to get false negatives before your missed period. I also learned that some women don't get a positive result until they're well into their first trimester. "A false pregnancy test is less reliable than a positive one" seems to be the general consensus. I also learned that there are plenty of women who get little to no implanation symptoms, and don't really start seeing early pregnancy symptoms until, again, they're well into their first trimester. ClearBlue claims that it starts being 99% effective the day of your missed period, but my mind keeps being like "No, that negative test is wrong".

I looked up where to get a blood pregnancy test done, and they said that home pregnancy tests don't become reliable until at least 10 days after your missed period. So now I've really got no idea when I'm supposed to actually expect reliable results: is it 5 days before, the day of, 10 days after, or like...5 weeks after your missed period? I know if I just don't get my period at all, then that's generally a good sign. At the moment, I'm just waiting to see what happens. If I don't get a period and I still get a negative at home test, I'll get a blood test done.

Even if I do get a period, I'll probably get a blood test done, because god knows I'll be part of the small number of women who get what appears to be a monthly period throughout the duration of her pregnancy.
