"People used to tell me "You have a lot of potential, Holly, you can do any job you want, work really hard and do whatever you want." Unnecessary high standards placed upon me because they wanted me to reach my fullest potential, without really realising the pressure this put me under. My parents were much the same, they wanted me to do so well that I'd have a wonderful, fulfilling life, with some kind of high-end job, working for a fancy company, or myself... yada yada yada."
I ALWAYS RANT ABOUT THIS. People used to tell me that, and even then I still have to tell dad to stop trying to make me believe one person can change the world by themself.
People always told me I could be so much and all it did was fuck me up mentally. Now I can't really be anything and am 24 and living with my parents still. I bet all those teachers feel super great now :/
As someone who also has pain issues, I will advice agaist coming off painkillers on share willpower and thinking it is a personal journey to succed coming off all your meds. I have done that myself, and ended up in very bad shape as a result. Of course shifting meds once in a while is very good, then you actually see how well they work. It is delicate balance to find the right meds in the right ammount with the right effect and the least possible side effect. One of my "meds" is a small electrical machine the size of a cell phone that connects to the skin through a patch ,that might be something for you to try if you are used to painkiller patches.

I've been a lot better off since I stopped taking so many meds. I can't deny that. Everyone's different. Been getting better in recent months so the meds I used to take were doing me more harm than good.
