If he wants to be respected he should be respectful toward his entire family
Sometimes he talks to her like it, but it's only if he loses his temper. My mum worries that my SO will end up hating him, she knows me and my dad are on tenderhooks, and doesn't want my SO to end up the same.
I think he felt bad about it after though... he started acting all mopey and awkward, came to my room twice talking about things he'd never usually talk about, it's like his way of trying to say sorry but he doesn't quite say it.
They're toxic types of people, hate to say it. I love my mom because she's my mom, and there's definitely undiagnosed mental issues there (like...lots). But, man, when she starts running her mouth, I honestly want to punch her.
She's horrible to my dad too, but that's also because they despise each other. Yay. But, they're still married and live in the same house (makes sense, right?).
I feel for you though. It's really not a fun situation.
