So randomly one day I decided, fuck it. If I want to talk to someone, I'm going to talk to them. If they don't like it they can tell me to go away. I was tired of being modest and waiting for people to come to me. And so I messaged the guy I had originally added on Steam. He's a fellow short on words, basically a listener more than a talker. So I persevered and initiated conversations every day. Eventually he started voluntarily messaging me. He even started using the Steam app on his phone. Eventually we wondered why we didn't have each other added on Skype and thus we took our conversations there (I notice that after our conversations switched to Skype he wasn't on the Steam app much anymore). Eventually I suggested we try playing games together and we did. Eventually I got my best friend and I to play H1Z1 and we invited him to join us on that.
I started to develop a crush on him. I really enjoyed talking to him. He showed genuine interest in the things I did and me. For Valentines Day I made him a little drawing referencing H1Z1 telling him he's to die for. I gave it to him and then later asked if he'd be my Valentine. I was partially joking. I seriously did want to be Valentines, more than that, but I figured he wouldn't be up for it. LDRs can be hard for a lot of people. But then after asking him and him saying yes he left me the most adorable and poetic message telling me how much he appreciates having me in his life, how I make him happy, he looks forward to hearing from me every day, and how lucky he is to have me in his life.
That was when I asked if he was interested in being more than just Valentines, and he said yes.
We've only been together just over a week but he is such a sweetheart. We are already planning to see each other in June after my classes get out
Also I'm glad you're back, we literally never talked but I went binge reading all the blogs on this site one night when I couldn't sleep and thought you seemed cool (Oh my god I am so creepy)
Continuation for my blog entry: I'll admit some of the habits I developed from my last relationship still linger but I was honest about it and he has been understanding. This isn't just with romantic relationships it's with all. With my last ex it was like I was constantly walking on thin ice. He would often misunderstand and misinterpret me but never say anything, so he'd let negative impressions of me build up inside and it ultimately affected the way he perceived me as a whole. And I got into the habit of taking the initiative and going to him to make sure everything was okay. I find myself still doing this. I told my current boyfriend to say something if it ever becomes an issue. I'm sure it'll die down with time.
As for an update on the ex: He and I tried to be friends but we are no longer on speaking terms.
I'm currently planning a trip to Disneyland with my best friend, her boyfriend, and my boyfriend. It'll be the first time he and I meet in person. It'll be interesting and frustrating at the same time as we will not have a ton of alone time. But we will be spending 9 days together and I'm sure we will find our moments. So far he is an absolute sweetheart. I've had such a long track of guys who completely disrespected me and took me for granted and even receiving the simplest gesture of gratitude for just getting to know me felt like a lot. What's even better is that my best friend totally approves of him, which she's never really done.
