6 days till we close the distance---assuming there aren't any hitches with my SO's flight details!

For the time being I have extended family visiting from Australia and the USA, all for my grandmother's birthday. It's been nice to see my uncles, aunts, and one of my cousins again. Unfortunately all this catching up means their asking if yes, I am really in a relationship. To be more to the point at least one of my aunts grilled my father about that first. Only my cousin asked me directly, and politely about my SO. Much of the joking has been along the lines of 'oh he's a real guy after all!'

I suppose this situation of disbelief stems from my being the bookish and socially awkward girl in the family, someone who rarely mentions being out on dates. At least what reassures some of my family is that my SO and I were friends for years before getting together, and on a long distance phase at that.

As far as I know my extended family won't get to meet my SO yet. They're flying out on Saturday. SO is flying in next week. I suppose they'll have to wait till Christmas or after for the usual grilling they give to anyone's SOs. There's a reason after all that only two of my cousins have ever dared to bring anyone home for the big family dinner!
