Know how we all meet different kinds of teachers and college professors during our time in school?
Well...
Weeks ago, my adviser suggested that I should become a student assistant under one of my previous professors. Seeing that someone had applied as student assistant on his billboard, I followed suit, in hopes that I would also become one. He has replied to the first application before I posted my offer.
A week has gone by, and more offers were pinned on his billboard, but there were no replies to any of them. Just the first one.
I don't know if that was a week or two ago, but now...
I received an SMS from an old classmate of mine that she knows another professor who was looking for a student assistant.
I talked to the suggested professor, but she explained that she was more concentrated on looking for those who were availabe 10-11PM every Wednesday. On those days, I have three classes, which means I am not available in the 8:30AM-12PM time frame.
So I went back to check the application that I posted on my previous professor's billboard. It so happens that some other professor was nearby and I told her, "This professor hasn't accepted any of these other applications in a few weeks."
"Haven't you heard? He passed away yesterday due to cardiac arrest."
...After that, I was pretty shocked.
I never had much connection to this person, except that he was my uncle's classmate back in the days(and my mom knows him as well).
Another thing...
I had this class, which was divided into two portions.
He was in charge of the large lecture class, and six other professors handled the recitation sections.
I passed the recitation, but his lectures were known for being...well, technical and difficult.
So...I really don't know what to say about his passing.

I learned that one of the bus drivers on campus (who had been nicknamed and was known as the "epic bus driver") passed away on my birthday, and for some reason, there was more to my shock than simply he'd been my favourite campus bus to ride... I can't really explain it and I can't say he and I even had a conversation, though he was always friendly when I was getting on/off, but I simply wanted to say that I can understand the sense of shock. *hug*
