During my SO's visit in France, we went to Fontainebleau together with my father (and once with my dog, Diddle). This is 30 minutes away from my place and about one hour and a half away from Paris (about 40 minutes away from Paris if you take a Transilien train, line R).

The day after our national day, we firstly went to Fontainebleau Forest, which is very big. We were hiking during some hours at Gorges de Franchard.

Four days later we went to Fontainebleau Castle, where many kings took place (François I, Henri II and IV, Louis XIII ...). It started being built during the 12th century. Versailles Castle was built later and was occupied until the French Revolution.
