But I can't help it!
So I talked with my director this week who promised to give me some sort of raise. We didn't agree on anything, but I thought she would email me an offer sometime next week or so. Well yesterday we were supposed to get paid. My paycheck goes into my SO's account because I don't feel like going through hell to open one of my own. He was checking his account today and magically 625,000 colones has appeared. It's not listed yet on transactions so we don't know exactly where it came from yet, but the only reasonable option is it's my paycheck. Which is 175,000c more than what I normally get paid! Which means it's 350,000c more per month! (that's about $700)
When I spoke with my director she mentioned how she wouldn't be able to pay me what I asked for. But what I thought I had asked for was 250,000c more a month. Maybe she thought I was asking for what the other school would pay me- 450,000c more. So she decided to pay me less than that. If I'm actually getting paid 350,000c more per month my SO will be able to quit his job!!
BUT! I don't know if this was a mistake, or if it's even my paycheck to begin with. I'm not going to say anything about it to my director. I'm going to wait until the next pay period and see what happens. If the same amount gets deposited again.........!!!!!!!!! That's our Cuba trip paid for in two months!!!!
Trying not to get excited! SO HARD!!!!
eeeeeeeeeeeeee
Maybe all this stress was actually worth it?
*breathe*
(it's also kind of funny to think about how excited we are about this money. Because even if I actually get paid that extra 350,000c a month, it's still less than what I would make in the USA. And my SO would make double what I'll make. When we both get jobs in the USA we'll feel like filthy rich people! SO MANY VACATIONS!!!)
My SO checked his account this morning and the money was deposited by my school as my paycheck.!!!!
We still have to wait until next pay period to see if that's what they'll continue paying me.
So excited!
(also, they're not deducting the lunches from my pay like they usually do. That's been saving me like $40/month! )
