Oh I'm so freaking excited! He'll be flying in on Thursday and leaves on Tuesday. I wish he was staying longer, but it is what it is. On Friday we're going to a beach and then coming back to San Jose on Sunday. Then on Monday my dad and his wife are going to do a birding tour to a nearby national park. It's perfect!

I'm a little worried I scared them though. I sent them a map of the area where they'll be staying (like two blocks from our apartment!) and told them where some parks were if they wanted to walk around while I got home from work. I told them it was safe, but to not bring any big cameras or lots of money. So now they're all nervous and asking me if they can bring their cell phones and ipads and do the hotel rooms have safes and everything. San Jose is a lot more dangerous than the towns where they live, but you just have to take a few precautions. Like no big cameras unless you're in a big group. Because they're going to stick out as tourists they need to be a little careful. That's all.

I already warned my SO that he's not allowed to tell any of his scary stories. He'll always be like "yeah I knew a guy who got killed there" or "people always come and rob this place" or "all my friends are gang members" etc. I want them to have a good time here and not feel paranoid. It can be dangerous, but just taking into account a few things and 99% of the time you won't have any problems.

Anyways, my dad is bringing me down a whole bunch of goodies! He's bringing down the $100 of clothes I bought (that my friend lectured me about), a BMF wallet for my SO, America book by Jon Stewart (also for my SO), an LP guide to Cuba (on amazon it was $16, compared to $45 here!), two new doggy collars for the doggy (one is a Stary Night collar! ), a few pairs of goggles that I really like to encourage me to get my fat ass to the pool, some food stuffs that are either hard or impossible to find (sriracha, fish sauce, Cajun spices, malted milk), and some body jewelry for me (because it's so cheap here! BUY FROM THAT SITE! SERIOUSLY!)

So we have this new neighbor who I am seriously judging. But what the hell. He looks like a creepy ass creeper. Our apartments come unfurnished and he's been there for almost 3 weeks now and still has no furniture. He sits on a bucket. He's always outside smoking and there's these two girls that sometimes are around that never say hello to me even though I always say hello to them. He doesn't work or go anywhere during the day. And he's never wearing a shirt. But they do laundry like every freaking day. It's just... weird.

Anyways! Last night I had to go to this stupid seminar with the 9th graders from my school. It was at a college and it was super long. It was on water. I like science, and I was bored. I mean, the thing is I have an attention span of about 45 minutes, 1 hour tops. This thing went on for like 2.5 hours! By the end of it I was just looking at the ceiling and thinking about acoustics. Luckily afterwards there was free wine!!! (funny too since I was thinking about how much I needed alcohol) I was looking around to see if any of the other teachers would drink some and I saw one of the teachers did. So I was like HELL YEAH! I would have had two cups, but I didn't want to look like a lush...

So thanks to Obamacare I was able to stay onto my dad's health insurance until I was 26. Which was exactly a week ago. So I had to go buy insurance. I wanted to go on the CAJA which is the national health care system here, but I can't because I'm not a resident. (and I've completely given up on obtaining residency) I have to buy a policy because in order to get insurance in the USA again I need to always be covered. Luckily last Saturday there was an insurance guy sitting outside where my SO and I were eating ice cream. For a $20,000 deductible it was only $400 for one year. But I figured since I'm having to buy insurance I might as well buy something worth while. So I bought one that was a $5000 deductible for $800 for the year. Also turned out the insurance guy is from Cuba. So he told us all these good places to go and even gave us a place to stay in Havana! Sweet!

Final good news- the other day I spotted Peanut Butter Crunch cereal in WalMart. I snatched that thing up with the quickness. peanut butter crunchhhhhh!!! mmmmm! home!

Suppose that's it for my randomness. Have a good day!

Oh- forgot to add- some parts of CR have been having a terrible drought. One of those places is where I work. So every single day they cut off the water from about 10am until 6pm. It is disgusting and awful. I never use the bathroom anymore because they get so freaking gross (teachers use the same bathroom as students). And I'm always soooo thirsty. And my hands feel gross since I can't wash them (I have hand sanitizer, but it's not the same!) Today I brought a 2L jug of water with me to school. It was great. I had all the water I needed to drink (it's hot as a mofo!) plus some extra to wash my hands before lunch. Haven't solved the bathroom issue yet, but for the most part I'm okay holding it until I get home.

Well enough potty talk
