(I wanted a noodle title too!)

So I'm trying to get everything ready for our trip on MONDAY! WEEEEEEEEE! I definitely won't be on internets until we get back. Cuba does not have reliable internet at all. Which is just fine for me

We're trying to figure out money stuffs because unfortunately the credit cards we planned on bringing are linked to a company in the USA so we can't use them after all. I think we might have one debit card that'll work at ATMs so we'll bring that just in case. It's definitely scary to think all we're doing is bringing cash for vacation! I'm sure we'll have more than enough, but in the age of the ever powerful credit card, cash-only scares me.

Because of lack of internet, I'm trying to make sure we get everything printed off that we need to right now. Like our hotel reservations, plane ticket reservations, etc. I know I'm going to miss something, but it'll be okay.

I think I finally understand the two currency system in Cuba! We'll be getting CUCs and probably a few CUPs. CUPs are for locals, but since my SO is a native Spanish speaker and a bargainer and super social I figure we can probably use them a bit. When you use CUPs you get stuff for way cheaper.

Our empleada (house cleaner) is going to be house sitting for us. Plus watching the puppy. We went with her because the lady who usually takes care of the puppy has started charging way too much. It would have cost $200 to board her for our vacation! Wtf?! So we're going to pay our empleada half that to house sit + take the puppy on a walk. It makes me a littler nervous because our empleada is very small, and my puppy is very excited. The puppy's also bad and will run away as fast as she can and never come back. She's awesome on a leash, but off she's completely untrustworthy.

I'm writing a reminder note for our empleada and I'm trying to remember everything to write down- dog stuff, watering plants, cooking, washer/dryer, TV... hmm I'll keep thinking I'm sure I'm missing something.

On to random noodles-

My aunt is a deadbeat. Her house is in foreclosure and she's completely broke. She's looking for a teaching job, but can't find one. She refuses to get another job (like at a hardware store) because she says she's "over qualified". Look, when you're going to become HOMELESS no job is under you. Freaking family.

Last night was the recital and it wasn't too painful. It was "only" 3 hours long and way more organized than last year. I feel like in these situations there are people who sort of step up to be the leaders because they enjoy being frustrated over being stressed out. This teacher from yesterday who decided to take control was a total bitch. I eat lunch with her often and she's always come off a little unpleasant but good god! She was just awful! Not to me, but with the kids. Look- all the kids had to sit at the top of the theater where it was maybe one million degrees. They had to sit through the entire recital which was stupid long. And this teacher bitch would yell at them constantly for moving or talking. They're freaking KIDS. I can't sit still for that long, how can they be expected to? Then at intermission all of the kids went downstairs, even though they weren't supposed to. When they came back up (after being told they weren't supposed to be downstairs) the lights had been turned off in the theater so we couldn't see anything to get them back out. The teacher bitch was so annoyed and was like "fuck this they won't listen to me" Dude, chill OUT! Everything will be OKAY. Then this other lady comes up to chew out teacher bitch and teacher bitch throws this huge tantrum and starts shouting. Wtf. Seriously. It is not that big of a deal. Good god. (just glad I wasn't involved, I purposefully stayed out of it!)

After everything, two other teachers and I were going in the same direction home. I wanted to take the bus because it goes right to my place (and theirs!). I guess the other guys wanted to take a cab, but I was getting on the bus. I'm still in the mindset of being broke as fuck, my rationale was "the taxi costs $4-5 to get home, the bus costs 50 cents. Why the hell would I take a cab?" The other two were annoyed I insisted on taking the bus, but hell they could have taken a taxi by themselves. One was strung out for not having smoked a cigarette in the past four hours.

I tried something new and got off the bus one stop early thinking it would be closer to my apartment. It was not.

Anyways...

I'm getting laundry done so we can have all sorts of fresh clothes for our trip! We'll be gone July 1-11 and I'm hoping we'll both pack just one small backpack. We're hella good at packing light (ask Dzuibka how much I brought to two weeks in Germany! ) I do wish I had a backpack a bit larger than the one I have now, but oh well. We will have to pack some nice going-out clothes because you can bet your ass we're going salsa dancing. My Cuban friend even said that my SO might be better than the Cubans!

Going over to my SO's parent's house tonight to celebrate his dad's birthday. I gotta make a cake. Planning on doing a chocolate cake with coffee cream cheese frosting. I like cream cheese frosting way better than butter cream because butter cream freaks me out. It's really just butter and sugar and I can never get that out of my head!

DING! There goes the washer. Off to change out the laundry. Have a great weekend and a great few weeks until I get back. Don't miss me too much
