I went swimming on Wednesday and Saturday last week. And I loved it. I felt like I had been dumped from a moving truck after practice, but it felt great to feel like that. And Saturday was already a million times better than Wednesday. I was able to keep up with the "fast" group on Saturday, which made me feel all good. I know that when I get in shape, I'll be one of the fastest on the team. My SO was over the moon I was exercising again and was even excited about going to see me swim in a meet! Which is impressive because swim meets are boring, especially for non-swimmers.
But. I don't think I'll be allowed to be on the team. My friend who got me on to begin with got an email from the coach saying we have to be somehow connected to the school (teacher, parent or alumni) and that I won't be allowed to swim with them. The coach hasn't told me directly yet and I'm waiting for an email.
My last ditched effort to stay on the team is to say I'll volunteer to help out with the beginners. Especially the kid beginners. The coach is currently the only coach and he definitely needs someone to help him. Maybe twice a week I can go in for an hour or so and help out the beginners. I'm a really great coach, and that'll help him concentrate on the faster guys. Then I can still be on the team!
We'll see.
I'd love to stay on the team. I felt so damn good this week.
Cross your fingers for me!!!
