On vacations and bored while my SO studied tirelessly for days for his final exam (which he is taking now!) I looked up wedding dresses on etsy. And there's one type that I've always really liked. I've never tried them on, but I really like the lace sleeves and with the back open. Sort of like this.

The second picture I really love. But the third is more what I want- cap sleeves, open back with a little clasp at the top. (remember I'm talking about the top and open back part, not the whole dress) Now I simply cannot justify buying another expensive white one-time use dress, so I thought maybe I can get my dress altered to somewhat resemble the backs of these dresses that I like so much.

I already thought about getting some sleeves added because the straps it has are like bra straps and are not very nice. Plus I plan on dancing all night and I don't want the thing to keep falling down! But I don't know if I'd be able to get the open back like I like.

So here's some pictures of my dress. (I just noticed it has a nice stain on the back, hope dry cleaners can get it out!)

I'll wear it with those shoes

Not to give you a boob shot, but I wanted to show the pretty lacey thing in the middle which I thought they could use as inspiration for sleeves/straps?

The back, which is stretchy and why I think it wouldn't be able to be altered too much.

So questions- what do you think about getting it altered? Do you think it would look nice with little lace cap sleeves? Do you think it could be altered? (yes I know, ask a seamstress) Any other opinions or thoughts?

Thanks!

Oh my gosh. And I just remembered- I totally wanted to make these for the actual wedding. But now I have time to make them for our fake wedding! Rice maracas! I can paint them or make them pretty somehow. But one of my favorite bars had them and I think they were so much fun. Here's a picture of me with one--

Just a plastic bottle filled with rice and a stick stuck in the top. Rice maraca!!
