We went to a wedding yesterday and evidently so did half of my facebook world. One of the ones who got married is a childhood friend who applied for a fiance visa for her [now] husband four months after I sent in our application and he's been in the USA for about two months now ANYWAYS

Friday I heard tale that I should call after 9:30pm to the visa people. No luck. The lady did say to call back either Tuesday or Wednesday, so of course I'll call Monday. I'm super worried they won't accept my marriage certificate again. If they don't then I probably won't get approve til the end of June which would definitely mean an August or September interview. But let me stop worrying about this for now.

Friday was also my SO's last day of work! I'm super psyched! First of all- I don't have to wash his damn uniforms anymore. Any other couple out there have one person that uses way more clothes than the other? My main chore in the house is laundry and I swear every time 85% of the clothes are my SO's, 10% are mine, and 5% are towels and napkins and such. I'm also happy he stopped working because he's the best damn house husband anyone could ever ask for. I know already because he was my house husband when he lived with me in the USA. He makes me breakfast, cleans the house during the day, does all the errands, etc. No wonder everyone wants a stay-at-home spouse! They're amazing!! He's also going to start working out again, rawr.

On Friday after a ridiculous drive home (took an hour instead of 20 minutes because a truck exploded on the highway, and there were various other crashes and it was pouring. The traffic lasted until midnight, I don't even know how!) I went and put up little signs all over our apartment of memories I have with my SO since we moved to CR. (I was planning on buying some balloons and treats as well, but the traffic did not allow for this) He loved it. Which surprised me a little because I thought he's not into mushy stuff, but turns out he's just not good at doing mushy stuff. But he does like it. So huzzah.

Saturday was my SO's best friend's wedding. My SO went out with him Friday night to attempt to take him to a titty bar, but the guy refused to go. His loss. That Friday the friend told my SO that we needed to be at the church by 1:30, because my SO was a witness. (He wasn't allowed to be a "padrino" because of a bunch of Catholic rules that we certainly do not carry out) So I got my hair done by my neighbor and had him help me put on my giant fake eyelashes which I LOVE, and my SO got his hair cut. We rushed over to the church and NO ONE WAS THERE. We look at the invitation and it says "2:00pm" so my SO calls the guy and he says "no the wedding is at 3pm" and we need to be there at 2:30. Uhh.. They put the wrong time on the invitation and never told us and JUST YESTERDAY the guy told my SO to be at the church at 1:30pm! Idiots. I told my SO that we should go to a bar while we wait, but he was already freaking out because he didn't like his hair (he's obsessed with his hair) and it was really hot.

We get home (luckily the church is less than a kilometer away) and my SO proceeds to freak the fuck out. So I calmly get him a beer and heat up some food for him. He manages to cool down and then it starts pouring outside. Another friend calls and she didn't know the wedding time was changed either. Around 2:30 we go to pick her up at a nearby bread shop, go to the church and STILL NO ONE IS THERE. So this time we headed to a nearby bar and had another beer (by now the tally was up to 3 for my SO and I) Around 3pm the friend calls us "where are you??" We're like "At a bar, we'll be there soon" We got there in plenty of time. Sheesh.

Ceremony was Catholic and long, about 1.5 hours. Ugh. But luckily the priest wasn't too into the "YOU'RE ALL SINNERRRSSSS!" which is normally what you get.

We then had to drive through a shit ton of traffic to get to the reception that was in another city. The reception kind of sucked. The only things to drink were: rum, vodka, whiskey, gingerale, coke. That's it! I asked for a whiskey/gingerale first because I thought it might be tolerable. It was not. So then I had rum & coke, which I hate because it's so sugary and just not tasty at all. After that I just had water.

(random side note- I was pissed because on the table cards they put "Sr [SO's Name] and Sra". Like wtf? I don't have a fucking name any more? I'm just my SO's "Senora" now? Grrr... I guess at least they didn't do it stupid USA style and put "Mr & Mrs [SO's full name]" I think I would have flipped my shit)

But they had a pretty good DJ playing fun music. I danced a lot with my SO, but I was a little hindered because of my dress. It's tight and past my knees so it was hard to dance a lot. But it was still fun.

One thing I really liked was for the bouquet toss all the single ladies got little veils! It was super cute.

After some more dancing the party people passed out masks and whistles and things. Then some mascaradas came! They're these guys on stilts dressed fancy, I think it's a Caribbean thing.

(I was really digging the "dynamic" effect on my camera!)

And there were also payasos, which I think is a Costa Rican thing. It's these guys in these tall costumes with big ugly heads and they just sort of spin in circles and jump around.

I saw the groom at one point with the video camera and I told him to let me take the video. I mean, wtf? How is the groom supposed to enjoy the party if he's busy filming everyone? And he wouldn't even be in the video! So I took the video camera. I probably wasn't the best option because I only knew like 4 people there, but no one else was offering. I hope I did a good job, I just went around filming everyone, the band, the couple, the mascaradas, etc.

The party ended pretty early- 9:30, and we headed home. I managed to swipe a flower arrangement. It's now sitting pretty on our kitchen table That's what you get for putting me as "Senora"!

Today we want to go see X-men, I heard it was pretty good!

Send us good vibes for a "case complete" this week with our visa! I can't wait to turn in my letter of resignation. It'll feel soooo goooood

Have a great day!
