That's really everything that's going on right now.
For those who didn't see my update here, I decided to accept the teaching job. I'm feeling pretty excited about it. The best part is- I will be paid as a regular teacher from day one! No extra-crappy sub pay! Plus, I don't have to take the Praxis! They reviewed my transcript and will add the certification for me. The bummer thing is I already had signed up for the Praxis, I tried to refund my money but they would only give me 50% back. Better than nothing I suppose. And better than having to stress out over the test! And way better than getting sub pay for months on end! I also have free health insurance (well, you fine tax payers are paying for my health insurance, thank ya kindly) but it'll cost an arm and a leg to add my SO to the policy. We decided to wait on that because...
My SO has a very, very exciting job opportunity right now. I was trying to not say anything until it was more sure, but you guys know I'm terrible at keeping secrets Right now my SO has a dream job opportunity. They're looking for someone who has his exact requirements (engineering with food processing and bilingual Eng/Spanish). He's already had three phone interviews this week and has gotten really good responses. It's for a company he'd love to work with because they have offices everywhere, and perhaps in a few years they'll transfer us to a different country! The thing I'm really quite bummed about (but not telling him I'm bummed because I know how badly he wants this job) is he'll have to travel about four months out of the year. I know I'm lucky to have closed the distance years ago, but shit! I like having my husband with me! He'll be traveling locally, nationally and internationally. I imagine it'll be a long weekend here, a few days there throughout the year. It'll be fine. If he gets this job it'll look excellent on his resume. So I'm pulling for him and not telling him how bummed I'll be that he'll be gone so much out of the year.
My first week has been somewhat of a messy whirlwind. Of course the day after I accept the job my SO gets the phone call about his potential job and the first thing I thought was "shit, I shouldn't have taken the job"
