Update with some much more important news than this bullshit that follows.

My SO is in Chile right now with work. We just spoke and he says that they want him to stay. He spoke with his US boss guy and they said that right now in sales they are really needing someone to sell parts in Latin America. And they asked him if he would be interested in moving to South America to do that.

Umm. OMG! This is super exciting but happening way too soon! Too many things... ah ah! We just signed a year long lease to our apartment. I just signed a contract to a year long job. My SO still has TWO MORE YEARS before he can apply to be a citizen.

I told him we'd talk more when he gets back. I guess if this is something he really wants to do I'm on board. But I do think it'd be best for him to wait a few more years in his company, get to know it better, get a raise or two for being so damn awesome, and then move abroad. (Of course in the process he can get his damn citizenship so I never ever have to apply for residency again)

(back to your regularly scheduled randomness)

School ended last week WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! DANCE WITH ME!

BUT I'm teaching summer school for two weeks and I still have swim team until July. I wonder when I'll get to the point where I won't work my ass off. Where one full time job will be enough and I won't feel the need to fill all my spare time with extra jobs. That time hasn't come yet. (And maybe won't come until NC decides to pay teachers livable wages! The other day a kid asked about teacher salaries in NC and I told him he could look it up online. So I did real quick and I got all upset. NC teacher salary caps at $50,000/year after 25 years. I mean, shit. You know that's only going to go down in the next few years, like it has in the past few years! Plus, NC no longer pays more for higher education- masters or PhD, nor for getting extra certifications. New Jersey pays their most experienced teachers over $100,000/year. Annnywaysss... /teacher rant)

So... summer school has been fine. I'm teaching kids who failed their state exams. It's fun and pretty laid back. My kids seem to really be grasping the concepts which is great. But they already took biology once so they should already know the stuff! I'm pretty damn tired after coaching swimming in the morning, teaching through the afternoon and on a few days going to swim meets at night. That paycheck is going to be real nice though! Well, nice enough.

I have fun job news- I accepted a position at a middle school! I'm really excited about it. It's one of the "best" schools in my city because it's a lottery school, you have to be lucky to get in. I hear the principal is a complete asshole, but I worked with an asshole principal before who didn't even pay us on time. I think I can handle just about anything!

SO job news- he's currently in South America! Chile to be specific. He's working hard and having a great time. Going semi-LD has kind of sucked but also been okay. I miss him like hell, but it also makes me remember to appreciate him while he's here. He'll be back next Wednesday and then leaves again in two weeks for another trip. I'm excited to be able to use the frequent flier lounge once he builds up those miles. Plus, I sleep sooo much better when I don't have to share a bed with Shakey-McShakelton.

My best most exciting news is we're moving into a swanky downtown apartment in July!!!! I'm soooooooo psyched! I was going back and forth between the downtown one and a cheaper suburb one. I loved the downtown one for so many reasons but I think one of the main reasons I love it so much is it's so nostalgic for me. The apartment is in a renovated tobacco factory, our city (like many in NC) was founded on tobacco. I remember riding and walking through downtown as a kid and smelling the sweet, sticky flavor of curing tobacco. Every time I smell that I'm reminded of home. And obviously these buildings don't have the smell any longer, but man. I'm excited. I'm excited to be a young, hip (sort of?), urban couple who can walk to bars and the theater and the ball park. I feel all Sex in the City. (Did I mention this apartment is walking distance to my new job?!?! Can you say "lunch time power nap"?)

Here's some pictures I pulled off google:

(Our windows will be large like this picture)

Now all we need is some glass-top tables and we're set!

So, huzzah. I'll post some pictures when we get all moved in. But unlike lyons, I have no inclination to make my apartment all pintresty. I'm buying shit off Craig's List and calling it a day. My color scheme will be "whatever was cheapest"

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
