Just got back from a long weekend in NYC. What a freaking blast! I'm exhausted from all the sight-seeing, drinking and eating that was done over the weekend. I'll probably be asleep by 8pm tonight.

Wednesday we got to NYC at night after our flight was delayed like three times. Evidently LaGuardia is infamous for flight delays.

Thursday was our big day- it was the day I had tickets for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert! We knew basically the entire day would be dedicated to waiting in line. We took the metro into the city and we were the third couple in line at 12pm. At 2pm they came through and handed us numbers. We were then released and allowed to go eat/drink/use the bathroom and they told us to come back at 3:30. We went to a nearby bar and took advantage of their Happy Hour (which is still pretty damn expensive!) and then went back to line up at 3:30pm. We were let into the theater where we were told we can't take any pictures inside the studio or we would be kicked out. I used this time to use the bathroom one more time (lesson learned, don't drink four beers right before a show). Finally, we got sent into the theater and we got seated in the very front row in the center section!!! We could hardly believe it! A warm up comedian came on and he actually pulled me up on the stage so I did somewhat get a picture in the theater (I took it from his instagram page). Then the band came out. Then Mr. Stephen Colbert came out! He did a quick Q&A and then started the show. The show was sooo funny. He did a great job and was dancing and being silly during the "commercial" breaks. The guests were Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Seth MacFarlane, it was lots of fun.

After the show we met up with one of my cousin's for dinner at a yummy Thai restaurant.

On Friday my SO and I headed to Rockefeller Center and bought tickets to the "Top of the Rock". I wanted to do some sort of high building experience and I heard TotR was better than the Empire State Building. We bought tickets for a few hours later, so in between my SO and I went to the MoMA. My SO was a doll and pushed me all around in a wheelchair. (I still have a hard time being on my feet for long periods of time).

Pushing my broke ass in a wheelchair = love.

When we were all done pretending to understand any art that wasn't famous, we stopped for a quick burger and then went to the Top of the Rock! It was AWESOME. The views were amazing and the weather was very cooperative. I will admit I was a little nervous being up so high. Not sure if it was vertigo, slight fear of heights or just a general over-thinking, but I was a little scared. We got some great pictures though. We even saw an adorable couple that just got married! I loved her outfit!

After safely making it back down to ground level, my SO and I went off to meet up with some friends for dinner/drinks. We first went to a cafe in the Rubin Museum. It was 2 for 1 wine night! Yaaaas. We had *some* wine and some tapas. The service was really slow and terrible so we decided to go to another place afterwards.

The next place we went to was a Brazilian steak house. I don't eat red meat that much so I wasn't super excited but my SO LOOOVES meat so he was psyched. Evidently this place was pretty fancy (I certainly figured that out when the bill came!) and since we didn't have reservations we went to the bar to wait. Our friend's new boyfriend is Brazilian so he was telling us what drinks to order (caipirinha) and what sort of meat to ask for when we eventually made it downstairs. And was giving my SO tips, since he's in Brazil right now!

We were finally called down to the dining room and my friend orders a ridiculously expensive bottle of wine, it was delicious. I go for the salad bar and eat tons of fresh mozzarella, YUM! My SO was basically in heaven with all the meat that keeps coming around. It was a really fun dinner and definitely the most expensive dinner I've ever paid for. Let's put it this way- I'm glad we were staying at my cousin's apartment for free because that dinner easily cost one night in a hotel.

Saturday morning my SO packed up and headed off to the airport. He had to leave a day earlier since he's working in Brazil this week. I went over and watched the family Halloween parade in Queens with my cousin and his boyfriend. My cousin dressed up as Bugs Bunny and was very popular. There were lots of pretty sweet costumes.

After the parade I went back to the apartment and took a three hour nap. I was so tired! Then I got dressed up and headed back out to hang out with the same friends again. We went to our favorite paella place and got a big arroz negro, and of course more wine! YUM!

After a delicious dinner we walked around Chelsea a little bit and came across a few fun costumes. We also stopped by the Flatiron building which I had never been to. Finally, we went to a bar and had one beer. I kept trying to eye-flirt with the guys but they were all gay! Man, I was definitely not getting a free drink in Chelsea! haha!

I wanted to stay out a little later, but my friends are old and were ready to go home. So I metroed my way back to Queens.

This morning I managed to navigate myself all the way to JFK on the trains. I got there super early and got portobello mushroom burger from Shake Shack- SOOOOO GOOD. I'm going to have to try to copy that shit. I also managed to grade all the exams, something I've kept putting off. I picked up my puppy from my mom's house, came home and started a huge load of laundry.

Now I guess I need to check and see if anything is edible in the fridge for dinner tonight and to pack for lunch tomorrow. It might be an eggs and bread sort of night.

Have a great week!!!
