My neighbor is crazy. Like... schizophrenia crazy. No, she hasn't told me this. This is my assumption after she accused me about 3 weeks ago of stealing her internet and hacking into her computer. She said I downloaded 15 million files to her computer and she couldn't delete them because they were password protected and she could see when someone was logging into her internet. She apparently also had her internet provider put a "tracker" on her internet so they could see who's using it, and apparently my name is attached to my IP address... (yea um, no.)

She said she talked to the police and filed a report on me, and then it escalated and the FBI were involved... I have to admit, I was a little freaked out. But then my common sense hit me and said, "If she had actually talked to them, they would have already tracked you down." I asked for the officer's name so I could talk to the police as well, "Oh, you're not supposed to know I talked to them."

Well, she also said she was getting emails addressed to me from places like Amazon and FedEx and UPS, and she apparently got travel confirmation emails too. Now, I got a little concerned there. So, I asked her if she could print out or forward those emails to me. "Oh, I deleted them." And then, magically, one was there! She read it to me. I told her it sounded like phishing, and tried to explain to her what phishing is and how she shouldn't open those emails or even respond to them (because she said she was). She exclaimed, "I know what phishing is, and this isn't it!" Oooookay... In any case, I gave her my work email so she could forward me any of this email so I could call the place and find out the problem. I never got the email. Am I surprised? No, not really.

Oh, she also said she has a "secret" email address she uses for online banking and that's it. She is only ever on there for 5 minutes, so there's apparently "no way anyone could know it unless they were hacking into her computer". I tried to tell her that ANYTHING you put on the internet is fair game. Companies can find your email address and send you spam even if you've never been to their website. She wouldn't listen to me (of course not).

I talked to the police after that, and they said they didn't have any reports of me. Or any record or anything.

Well. Today after lunch I got an email from an AOL address with the subject: "READ!!!!!" I'm going to post this gem for all of you to see, I think you'll appreciate it. Her email:

JUST SO YOU KNOW ...... THERE IS A TRACKING DEVICE ON MY COMPUTER AND FOLLOWS, COPIES AND SENDS ANYTHING YOU DO USING MY INTERNET SERVICE TO PROPER DEPT OF MY PROVIDER..
IF YOU DONT WANT ANY PROBLEMS I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU DISCONNECT YOUR LAP TOP, CELL PHONE AND NOTE PAD FROM MINE AND SHOULD YOU WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME .....ASK !!! NO NEED TO DO A SEARCH !! I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE !!!!

Yup. In bold. In that color. Awesome, right? I decided after the last stunt she pulled, I wasn't going to take her crap. Soooooooo I called the leasing office at my apartment complex, forwarded them a copy of the email, and let them know I was going to file a police report. Then I called the police. A very nice lady cop (although I was disappointed it was a lady! ) showed up at work and we had a nice chat. I gave her a copy of the email, and she gave me her card and said if she keeps emailing me to let her know.

I'm not pressing charges or anything right now, I don't know if there's a point. I don't feel threatened, I'm just a little freaked out that she is watching me coming and going out of my apartment. The nice lady cop also told me that the best course of action for this is to just not talk to her. Okay! If she tries to talk to me, the lady cop said, "Just say no." (lol!) Or tell her "I'm not allowed to talk to you." Or something along those lines.

All in all, it was an extremely uneventful day up until then. It's now calmed down, and I'm ready to be done at work. I haven't been the most productive employee today.... whoops.
