Wanted somewhere to vent about my roommate. And I didn't want to bug people on the forums with my silly issues so I decided to blog.
My roommate constantly hogs the internet data. Our provider sets a limit to 80gb of downloads/uploads per month. Decent amout right? And we just increased it from 60gb not to long ago. Nope. She hogs it. I never download anything all I do it play FB game and do my 30min-1hr skype at night. Yesterday, we got a warning telling us we had 12gb, so 75% used!! Like come on! What have you been doing?? I asked her and she said "I've only downloaded 4 movies"...*FACEPALM* She apparently didn't realise that when you DL stuff, you share it to other people too!! So if 20 people are taking it from you...that's 20x the uploads. Is she stupid? So now, we have to wait until the net resets which in 5 days...Skype is the one thing I look forward to with my SO everynight and now I don't even think I can have that for the next few days.
How can people just not care? I told her that she needs to cut down her downloading cause she's hogging it. 80GB is A LOT of freaking data usage! ahhh it upsets me. Do you need to see a movie again THAT bad that you HAVE to DL it now?
I can't wait to be living on my own/with my gf...I've done this rommate thing for far too long and I have had enough of it. I want out. Unfortunately, it's a good money saver and IDK when the move will happen...I'm just so tired of it. I've always been uber considerate of my roommates but none of them have seem to given a shit about me...I'm starting to wonder why I've even bothered.

It took me my ex-SO explaining how downloads/uploads worked to even begin to get a grasp on the amount of data that it could be using, especially if I allowed for seeding. As much as some people like to think it is, it's not common knowledge. The most I would have had to compare it to is the data plan on my phone, so maybe she'll stop hogging it once it's been pointed out to her. Might be wishful thinking, though, but my point is, not everyone understands how downloading movies works enough to consider it in terms of limited data.

But at the same time, knowing we are 2 you'd think she would consider being careful. IDK, I guess just because it's common sense to me, it may not be to her.
