Dear girl I used to know,

At a school where there are only 700 people, everyone kind of knows each other. You took my spot in the Student Council as senior year representative, and graduated with really high grades. I always thought you were a great person.
I guess I didn't really 'know' you that well but seeing your name on the passenger list of MH17 hit me like a rock. You were the same age as me, your brother the same age as my brother, on your way to an awesome vacation in Malaysia.
But you never arrived. You became the victim of a stupid conflict you had nothing to do with. I hope you didn't know what was going on for too long, but that's been on my mind for the past few days. I hope you weren't scared. I'm glad you have no idea of the international mess that is going on right now. Or maybe you do, who knows... You didn't deserve to die like this, none of you did. A picture of your mom's passport was circulating on twitter for God's sake. Who does that? It's so unfair that people get so caugt up in political games that it costs the lives of innocent people.
The Netherlands are crying for all of those who lost their lives. There's a sea of flowers at the airport. None of it matters though, none of it will bring you home. My heart goes out to your family and friends all of the people who lost someone close to them. I hope the mess around this situation will end soon so that you can get the final respect you deserve.

I hope you are in heaven now.
