First Year Done

Last day of school today so that means I have officially finished my first year of teaching. It was a very stressful year, and I learned SO much. There is so much that I would now do differently and I plan too. They say that the first year of teaching is the hardest so I have officially survived the toughest time of my career! ^^

It actually went by pretty fast. I'm taking down things in my room and it feels so weird cause it seems like I was just barely decorating it. But it's kinda a blah feeling knowing that soon I'll just be putting it all back up for a new wave of students and do everything all over again. Second verse, same as the first! =P

I felt like you do now just a week ago. This was my first year and boy, was I overwhelmed. Thankfully, my partner teacher who was also my mentor helped me out a lot. My SO has been extremely supportive as well. I felt sad having to say goodbye to my first group of kids. I did not sign a contract for the next year because I am trying to get some things taken care of here in order to move and close the distance with my SO. I will have to take some more tests in PA to get my certification there. Hopefully, I will be able to do that and get a teaching job there. Enjoy the summer and good luck with the next group of kids.

Yes, when I was in my previous relationship, I had planned to move to California which they too require some extra tests/work to transfer your certificate. I just wish they can be universal, at least within the states.

I plan on staying at my school one more year and then deciding to try someplace new (hopefully to be with my SO).
