I just need to vent this out.

I've more or less lived at my boyfriends house since September last year. When I started living here they had 2 healthy cockatiels and 1 "ugly bird". This bird was in pretty bad shape. She was more or less blind, and had constant fits of gunk coming out her eyes. Well they got rid of the healthy birds and all that was left was the ugly one. Now I feel bad for this bird. I started talking to her and taking her out and around the house with me. She seemed to enjoy all this attention and finally I asked his mother if I could take this poor bird to the vet.

We took her to the vet yesterday and the doc diagnosed her with chronic conjunctivitis. He prescribed oral medication and eye drops. Against my better judgement I allowed my SO to administer the meds for the bird. Unfortunately i'm 90% sure he did it very wrong. The bird began to sneeze and weeze and all around struggle to breath. I was concerned of course, we tried a number of things to get it to stop aspirating. None of it worked, but eventually it stopped.

She made it through the night but is still puffing and barely has a voice. She has an appointment with a bird specialist tomorrow, I just want to make sure shes not aspirating herself to death. She was already sick and didn't need this stress.

Thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.
