I am sadly posting this last update on ugly bird.

After her immediate improvement after her first antibiotic injection, her condition began to decrease. We continued to give her the anti-inflammatory Medicam, to decrease the inflammation in her throat. A few days later she began to sound congested. Kind of like when humans have severe allergies and congestion. At this point she was due for her second injection so I took her to the vet on Tuesday to do that. She got her injection, the vet gave her a once over and that was it. He said nothing about the congestion aside from telling us to give her opportunities to breath in vapor to clear it up. I told him that we take her into the bathroom when we shower so she can inhale the steam. The vet said that was a good idea.

We went home and again she seemed more energetic and was eating like a horse. The congestion however didn't improve at all, I guess it didn't get worst either. Charles and I went to bed thinking we were doing all we could for it. Around 3:30am when his alarms start going off for work he noticed that the lights were all on downstairs. He went down to turn them off to find that his sister had taken the bird out of her room and moved her downstairs.....AND THEN LEFT ALL THE LIGHTS ON SO THE SICK BIRD COULDN'T GET ANY REST!! Causing plenty of unneeded stress on it.

Anyway, fast forward to around 9am and Charles comes home from work and tells me Ugly bird died that morning. =( He flipped out and blamed his sister for the stress she caused it and all I could think was why didn't the vet do more for her when I was in the office. I think at the end of the day the bird had been sick for too long, was too old, and too weak to deal with the antibiotic treatment she was receiving. If she'd had pneumonia they would have treated that with antibiotics as well.

I did all I could for that bird. I'm sad she didn't make it, but at least the last week of her life she could see the world around her!
