So Saturday morning I was pleased to participate in the Rundead held by the Special Olympics of NY with my brother and SO. All proceeds went to the place I work at Anderson Center for Autism in Staatsburg.

A quick overview, the rundead is a 5k. The twist in this run however is that the course is littered with "zombies". Each runner is given three flags, and it is the zombies job to make sure the runners finish the race with no flags. Which technically means they don't finish the race alive. There are three categories they give awards for. Best race time (male), best race time (female) and best race time for those racers that survived. None of us felt that we were in enough shape to run the race so got done up as zombies.

We got placed on this small wooded trail around 7 ft wide. On one side was a chain link fence and the other was trees and a pretty steep incline. We positioned ourselves across the path so that the runners would have to get in between us...and if they managed that my SO was standing in that small gap. We had an amazing time! Charles got 50 flags (2nd place), I got 45 (3rd place), my brother got 27. I would recommend this to anyone! It's a great time!
