Tomorrow's classes had been canceled. I am home alone and a bit bored... so, why not to blog the 2nd part? - The first days-

I can't remember that many details of the first night -I hope the boyfriend doesn't read this-.

I remember the boyfriend showed me the apartment. It's perfect for the two of us and I like it a lot. It has a big living/dinning room, a big balcony, working room, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a small kitchen.
The last room he showed was our bedroom, but because there he had a surprise for me. Two beautiful red roses on my night stand table, and right next to them, the jar full of surprises and activities for us. I love him!!!

After showing me the apartment, he made pasta with homemade pesto while I showered. It was delicious! I think it was also on that night that I tried something called Fass Brause, which is a kind a alcohol free beer, made from some spices, fruits and malt. The flavor we had was Holunder, it tastes like red fruits. I loved it!

Like I mentioned in the previous blog, I had to go to my german classes a day after my arrival, very early in the morning.
The boyfriend had taken 2 vacation weeks to be there for me, show me the way to my language school, help me with bureaucratic stuff, show me the town and to do fun stuff together. But I wasn't feeling well.
Days before my trip, I caught an awful cold. My throat was very sore, my ears were blocked/plugged and the pressure changes during the flights made it worse.

On that morning, I woke up completely exhausted, with this horrible feeling in my ears, pain on my left knee, my back.. oh well!
When we got to the school, it was closed! It turns out I had messed up with the time and thought my classes were from 8 to 12 something. No! they are from 9 - 12:15. The boyfriend and I laughed, but were quite mad because I made us lose at least a MUCH needed 1 hour of sleep.

Once in the classroom, I swear I had no idea what was going on. I was completely lost, like I have never heard or tried to speak german in my life. I have to confess first class(es) didn't go so well. Not to mention that I got there on a Wednesday, I had missed 4 classes already and missing just one lesson while learning German -or any other language- is the worst thing that can happen to you, specially if they are talking about stuff like Konjunktiv II.
All of a sudden I felt like I had forgotten all the grammar rules I learned before, all the verbs and conjugations. It was bad bad. But what made it worse was the fact that the following week we were going to have the first test and it was going to be exactly about the stuff learned in the classes I missed. I wanted to cry!!

Weekend came, and even thought I was still suffering with my blocked ears, and worried about the test, the boyfriend and I took the time to explore the city.
We live in Hameln, a small town with a population of 56,433, according to Wikipedia.
If during your childhood you enjoyed watching the Brothers Grimm tales on a Saturday morning - I did-, you're probably familiar with the folk tale The Pied Piper of Hamelin. So yeah, we live in the town were this medieval story took place.
The town is small but charming and mostly in every corner you will find something that reminds you of the Pied Piper.
We were lucky because during the summer the tale is performed by actors in the old town and that weekend was the last time they were doing it for this year. It was very nice to see it and then to walk around the city streets, it's magical!

I met the boyfriend's parents the Sunday of that weekend. Before going to their house, the boyfriend drove to the company where he works and showed me from outside.
He said it was because I was nervous, but when we were driving around I felt super sick or like if I was about to have a heart attack or a stroke. That was scary! I felt some weird pressure on my chest, my left arm and leg were feeling funny, slightly numb and my vision was blurry . I asked him to please stop the car because I wanted to move my arms, legs and breathe fresh air. We stopped at a nearby town, walked and got some after eight ice cream. Then walked some more around that town.
After that we headed to his parents, they were waiting for us. I was a bit nervous, but they were so sweet and nice that after some minutes I was feeling so welcome and at home.
They talked to me in german, english and some spanish. I was happy we didn't have communication problems at all. :-)
That day we had BBQ, salad and a homemade dessert. Lovely people, yummy food!!

Second week came and the boyfriend went back to work after his "vacation time". He came back with the news that he was going on a business trip from Tuesday to Thursday.
He was feeling bad because he had to go and didn't want to leave me alone. I told him that I was going to be Ok. He said he was going to be back on Thursday evening, because that night we were going to a musical (he bought the tickets in July)
I spent the second week home alone. But it was good because it gave me time to focus on the test, even thought sometimes I wished he was here to help me when I had questions.
He came back on Thursday and we went to the musical. I am a little bit ashamed to write this, but, it was the first musical I went to, in my 28 years of life. The name of the musical we saw is "Die Päpstin" or in english Pope Joan: the female pope.
It was in german, but it didn't prevent me from understanding the story and what was going on. I had a great time and enjoyed it so much. I now want to go to more musicals!

Weekend again, fun stuff! We went to a fun fair on Saturday -it rained cats and dogs when we were there- and visited his parents after that because it was close to where they live.
On sunday we went to an open air museum in a town about 40 minutes away from here. There you can see over 90 completely furnished buildings from all the regions of westphalia. The buildings give you more information about the historical background of rural constructions in that area.

A new week came and the boyfriend told me he had to go away again This time from Wednesday until late friday. We communicate in between his working day and when he is off. Always lots of things to say! I miss him throughout the day, but is at nights when I miss him the most: It's getting cold here and I miss my cuddling buddy.

So here I am. Sipping tea and writing this.
The boyfriend has different kind of teas. At the beginning of the week he introduced me to an "Inca" one and I was in love with it. Then yesterday I discovered a new favorite one. It's called Heiße Liebe: fruit tea with raspberry and vanilla flavor.

Oh btw, some days ago I pulled the first "ticket" out of the jar of surprises. We got: A movie evening at home. I have no idea which movie should we rent. Do you have any recommendations?

P.s: I missed LFAD!
